Description

I L. TILDEN.
Cooking Stove.
Patented July 18, 1840.
FIG-.1.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LESTER TIL-DEN, OF BAR-RE, VERMONT.
COOKING-STOVE HAVING ELEVATED OVENS.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 1,698, dated July 18, 1840.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LESTER TILD'EN, of Barre, in the county of Washington and State of Vermont, have invented certain Improvements in the Manner of Constructing OookingStoves with Elevated Ovens; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1, is a perspective view of my stove, and Fig. 2, a top view of the body thereof when the elevated ovenland the top plate are removed; this figure being givento the interior or body of the stove, and particularly to the back plate.
A, A, is the elevated oven, and B the smoke or escape pipe. The interior of the oven consists of two concentric cylinders, or other formed boilers placed one within the other, and at such distance apart as to afford the space necessary for the formation of a flue. A ring-like scraper, having a suitable rod attached to it, serves to remove the dust or soot from this flue. From the body of the stove three pipes, or flues, c, 0, 0, rise, and convey the heated air into the oven flue. These flues are each furnished with dampers, or valves, by means of which the passage through each or either of them may be opened or closed, so that the draft up each of them may be effectually governed, and the whole be directed under either of the boilers.
D, D, is the top plate of the stove, in which there are three boiler holes, corresponding with the three compartments into which the body of the stove is divided, as shown in Fig. 2. Each of these compartments is furnished with a distinct flue E, E, E, leading to the respective pipes Letters Patent No. 1,698
