PRICE-TICKET HOLDER.
Appiicationlied May 12,
piece of suitable material preferably metal.k
It is a further object of the invention to provide a device of this character which may be formed from sheet metal or other suitg able material by suitablemachinery.
With the above and other objects in view, reference is had tothe accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a price'ticket holder constructed in accordance with one form ofthe present invention;
Figure 2 is a view in end elevation of that form of the invention shown in Figure 1 and taken at right angles to said Figure 1;
F igure 3 is a top' plan view of that form of the invention shown in Figure l; v
Figure 4 is a plan view ofthe blank from which the price ticket holder is formed;
Figure 5 is a view in front elevation of a price ticket holder of slightly modied form; n
Figure 6 is an end view of the form shown in Figure 5 and taken at right angles to said Figure 5; and i Figure 7 is a top plan view of the form of the invention shown in'Figures 5 and 6.
In carrying out the present invention, a blank of suitable material7 such as metal, Celluloid or the like, is employed. As shown in Figure 4 of the drawings, this blank is preferably of rectangular shape and is designated by the reference character A. Extending from one end of this rectangular 'blank A there is a tongue or like projection B.
That face of the blank A, which is eXn posed to view in Figure 4, constitutes the front face of the price ticket holder when the same has been completed by a series of cutting and bending operations to be hereinafter more fully described.
To form the price ticket holder from Vthe blank A, said blank is cut as at 10, these cuts 10 forming continuations of the sides of the projecting tongue B of the blank. The blank A is also cut atv 12 and at 14. By so cutting the blank A, the tongue B 192e. serial No. 108,682.
may be bent or folded upon the ydotted line 16 to a position atV substantially right angles to the body of the blank A to'provide al rearwardly extending support engaging member18 as shown in Figures 2 and .3.'
The upper. edge of the blank A `bent forwardlyralong 'the dotted line 2O to pro"- vide price ticket retaining means in the form of a `Hange or lugs 22, see Figures 1 and 2. The'blank A is further cut to provide low er price ticket retaining lugsof which .there are preferably three, designated'by the reiference4 numeral 24 in Figures 1 and 2. To form these price ticket retaining/lugs 24, :the
., blank A'is cut as at 26 and 28, .and the lugs 24 are. then bent upwardly into spaced relation with respectv to the blank A, along the dotted line 30.
The price ticket retaining lugs 24 heretofore mentioned are cut froinfthe portion D of the blank A, and Ythis portion D of the blank forms when vbent rearwardly upon the dotted line 32, the lower support vengaging member 34, it being bent into substan-l tial parallelism with theupper support engaging member 18, asbest seen in Figure 2. Thislower support engaging-member may, if desired, be provided with a longitudinally extending bead, such as 36,- in order that-the 'member 34 may more firmly grip the article to which it is attached.
Toprovide for ready and easy placement and Yremoval of the price'tickets which are designated by the reference .character X in the present instance, the' front face of the holder is formed with cut-out .portions 38, there preferably being one near each end of the front face of the holder. Through these openings, the vprice tickets may bey gripped, preferablybythe thumb and forefinger and moved at will behind the retaining flanges or lugs 22 and 24.
. For retaining the price tickets against acy cidental displacementin a lateral direction, Vor llongitudinally of the -front face of the holder,` relatively small, lugs 40 are4 employed, which lugs 40 4are positioned substantially centrally ofthe ends of the front face of the holder as more clearly shownin vFigure l. Theopenings 38, hereto-fore referred to, also permit of a gripping of the price tickets therethrough in order that they may beiieXed to insert andreinove them over the lugs 40 heretofore mentioned.
In that form of the invention illustrated' in Figures' 5, `6 and 7 the front face of the tend preferably throughout the side-.edges thereof, and forming priceA ticket retaining means behind which the price tickets X are retained. To prevent accidental displacement of the price tickets X with respect to the retaining flanges 42,V lugs44 are provided at the ends of the front face of the holder, as in the preferred form of the invention and, to facilitate the insertion and removal--of the price tickets X, cut-outs 46 are provided, there being preferably one at each end of the front face of the ticket holder.
.This form of price ticket holder is adapted to `be carried bythe -forward edge ofa shelf orsimilar support-and, to provide for its attachment thereto, there are provided azpluralityy of rearwardly extendn'gfarms or clamping members preferably integral with the holder. In thepresent illustration of the invention, three of these rearwardly extending clamping members are shown, there being two adjacentl'one side edge of theholder, and one adjacent the other side edge, the single clamping member beingpreferably centrally disposed with respect to the other two clamping membersi The clamping members are designated by the reference numerals 48, 50 and 52,those designated 48 and 52 being the lower Clamping members and the one designated 50 being the upper clamping member in the present illustration kof the invention. j
These clamping members 48, .5()v and 52 are. formed by suitably cutting the. front face ofthe holder and then bending the clampingmembers 48 and 52 rearwardly and .downwardly upon the dotted .line V54 and bendingVV the clamping ymember 50, rearwardly and upwardly upon thedotted line Y *l* rom l.the foregoing, it will .be apparent saidl support engaging memberv whereby when the-support engaging member is bent stantiallyfat right angles to the body portion l of said blank, a plurality of forwardly projecting `ticket retaining meansformed Von that edgeof the lblank adjacent the-first mentioned support engagingv member, and ticket retaining means formed at the line of bend of saidlsecond mentionedsupport engaging member.
2. A price ticket holder comprising a sub-a f stantially rectangular blank of suitable maf terial, Va support-engaging member projecting from one edge of said blank, lthe blank being cut 1n continuation of theside edges of sald support-engaging member whereby when the support-engaging member is bent to substantially right angular position with respect to the body of said blank it will project from a point remote from the ledge thereof, a second support-engaging member formed by bending a port-ion of saidblank into parallel relation with said first men.- tioned support-.engaging memberand substantially at right angles to vthe body portion of said blank, a plurality'of forwardly projecting ticket retaining means formed .on that edge of the blank adjacent the first mentioned support engaging member, and ticket-retaining means formed at the line of bend of said second mentionedr support-engaging member and struck from said second mentioned support-engaging inmber.
3. Afprice ticket holder comprising a` substantially rectangular blank of suitablematerial, a support-engaging memberJ projecting from one edge of saidblank, the blank being cut in continuation of theside edges of. said support-engagingmember, whereby when the support-'engaging,member is bent to substantially right-.angular position with respect to the body of said blank it will project from a point remote fromv theedge thereof, a second support-engaging member formed by bending a portion ofsaidblank into parallel relation with saidairst-m'entioned'support-engaging member, and aplurality of forwardly-projecting ticket-retaining means cut fromk said blank.
