This invention .relates to 'an ethyl i chloride tube and it is an object'of the invention `to'provide a device ofthis kind constructed in a manner whereby the ethyl chlorideis caused to be ejected ;therefrom in a vapor spray.
It is also an obiect of the lnvention to provide a device of this kind constructed in a manner whereby a controlling valve there` V for may be readily and conveniently applied thereto.
The invention also has for an Object to provide a device of this kind wherein the tube proper is in communication with a bulb from which leads a discharge nozzle, .the bore of the nozzle being of a diameter greater than that of the communication between the bulb and tube.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved ethyl chloride tube whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I Will now proceed to describe the same withreference to the accompanying drawing, whereinzw. H
Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of an ethyl chloride tube constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention;
Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary view in longitudinal section taken through one end portion of the tube as illustrated in Figure 1.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawing, T denotes an elongated tube of requisite dimensions which is provided at one end portion and to the side thereof with an angularly disposed outwardly directed cyllndrical extension 1, the outer portion of which being restricted at 2, such restriction being immediately adj acent to a bulb 3 from which leads a discharge nozzle 4. The bore 5` of the restricted portion 2 is preferably of a diameter substantially one-half of the diameter of the bore 6 of the nozzle 4 and especially at the outer extremity of such bore 6.
The cylindrical extension 17 oivmore'partlcularly the-inner part thereofyprovides a imounting A'for the' desired valve mechanism designated in itsentirety as M. As fh'erein disclosed, this mechanism comprises a sleeve 7 snugly engaged with the extension 1 and which has an extended vportion 8 overlying the restricted portion 2. This extended portion 8 has hingedly connected thereto, as at' 9, the central portion of an elongated lever 10. One end portion of this lever 10 carries a cap 11 of desired yieldable material and which is adapted to have ,close contact with the outer end of the nozzle 4 and effectiv'ely close or seal the bore 6 thereof The opposite or rear end portion of the lever 10 comprises an Operating handle and coacting with said handle portion and the sleeve 7 is a spring 12 of suflicient tension to normally maintain the cap 11 in its closed position. When desired to open the bore 6 'of the nozzle, it is only required that the digit of the hand holding the tube T engage the handle portion of the-lever 10 and force the same inwardly toward the extension 1.
The tube T is adapted to contain a supply of ethyl chloride and in practice the tube is first adjusted to dispose the extension 1 thereof upwardly. The cap 11 is momentarily opened to permit the ethyl chloride under the action of the pressure of the gas therein to enter the bulb 3. The cap 11 is then again opened resulting in the discharge from the nozzle 4 in a vapor form the ethyl chloride within the bulb 3.
By having the bore 5 of a diameter less than that of the bore 6 results in the dis-n charge of the ethyl chloride as a vapor spray and free of any watery characteristics and such relative arrangement of these bores assures an instantaneous ejection of the vapor.
From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that an ethyl chloride tube constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with vwhich it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that .myinvention-is susceptible of some change and modifica-tion without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim- 1. An ethyl Chloride sprayer oomprising a tube having a tubular extension, an intermediate portion of said extension being enlarged to form a bulb, the bore of the extension at the induction side of the bulb being of a materially reduced diameter, the portion of the extension at the opposite side of the bulb comprising a nozzle, the bore of the nozzle Vat all points therealong 'being greater than the diameter of the materially reduced bore of the extension at the opposite side of the bulb.
2. An ethyl Chloride sprayer comprising i a tube having a tubular extension, an intermediate portion of said extension being enlarged to form a bulb, vthe bore of the extension at the induction side of the bulb being of a materially reduced diameter, the portion of the extension at the opposite side of the bulb comprising a nozzle, the bore of the nozzle at all points therealong being greater than the diameter of the materially reduced bore of the extension at the oppo-` site side of the bulb, and means for nor'inally Aclosing fiow through the nozzle.
