UNITED-STATES I SAMUEL MILLER, on rnILAn-nnenm, rEnirsYLvANIA;
GAME.
7 Application filed November" My invention relates to games and more particularly to that type of game in which the player is blind-folded and required to attach an article to a chart or representation of some object.
In games of this nature, the player must depend solely upon hisor hersense of direction in affixing the article to the chart and one of the objects of this invention isv to provide a game in which the efforts of each player are rewarded or penalized in such a manner as to add to the amusement of the other players.
Another object of the invention is to so divide the chart, to which the article isto be attached, that it will be impossible for a player to remember locations of certain legends regardless of howwell his or her sense of direction is developed.
These objects and other advantageous ends which will appear hereinafter, I attainin the following manner, reference being had .to
the accompanying drawing in which,
Figure 1 represents a chart embodying my invention, and
Figure 2 a'plan view of an article adapted to be pinned or otherwise secured, by a blindfolded player, to the chart shown in Figure 1.
The chart 5 may be made of any suitable material upon which a figure can be produced and which may be readily supported upon a wall or other convenientplace. Chart 5 has been shown as being rectangular in outline and preferably has a figure formed on its face which is divided into a plurality of small spaces. I
This figure maybe of any design and may consist of several figures imposed upon one another. The figure shown in the drawing consists of a circle 6 traversed by ten lines 7 which extend between five points spaced around its periphery so thata five-pointed star 8 isformed. A line 9 extends from each point of star 8 to the'periphery of the center space which has been shown as being a small circle 10. line 11 extends from'the pe riphery of circle 10 intermediate adjacent lines 9 and joins the periphery of circle 6. intermediate the points'of star 8. In this manner, circle 6 and star 8 are divided into a plurality of spaces12 of irregular shape and size.
The periphery of star 8 has been shown 1,1927. Serial No. 230,240.
in heavylines, While lines 9 and those portions 0' lines 7 and 11 falling within star 8 are lighter, but the several spaces 12 arepreferably of different colors and the colored spaces so assorted that each space of one color 1s flanked on all sides by spaces of other colors, thus giving the chart an unusual appearance.
The game may be called any appropriate name, but for the sake of illustration, it has been designated as Crown and this word is inscribed within circle 10. The article, which the blindfolded player is required to ailix to chart 5, has been shown as being a small disc 13 of any suitable materialupon.
which the name of theigame is also preferably inscribed. Spaces 12 contain legends,
the majority being preferably in rhyme, each of which instructthe player, or players, what to do in case the blind-folded player affixes disc 13 on that space,
other suitable support, a player is stationed Chart5 having been secured to a'wall or' ten or" fifteen feet from the chart, blind:
folded and turnedaround a few times, s0
that his sense of direction is lost ordisturbed,
and instructed to affix disc 13 to chart 5. If
the player succeeds in afixingdisc 13 over circle10, he is entitled to some reward or prize previously decided upon. If disc 13 is affixed over one of the spaces 12, the player must follow the instructions contained in that space, which may be either in the nature of a penalty or a reward, or the legend in that While I have illustrated and describeda certain embodiment of my invention and have 7 described a method of using same, it is evident that the game may beadapted to many variations, and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the precise construction and method chart upon which the playing pieceis to be placed by a blindfolded player, the chart having a small circle at its center upon which the star and large circle into spaces, and a the player endeavors to place the playing legend in each space designating an act which piece, a large circle concentric with the small must be performed by the player who places 10 circle, a star inscribed in the large circle, the playing piece upon that space.
5 lines extending from the small circle to the In testimony whereof I have signed my periphery of the large circle at and intername to this specification. mediate the points of the star for dividing SAMUEL MILLER.
