IMPROVEMENT IN KlTCHEN-SAFES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent N ol69.697, dated November 9, 1875 application filed August 14, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN B. HARRISON, of St. Joseph, in the county of Buchanan and State of Missouri, have invented a new and valuable lmprovementin Kitchen-Safes; and I do herebydeclare thatthetollowing is afull, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

This invention has relation to improvements in that class of kitchensafes wherein spicedrawers, kneading-boards, and sifting devices are arranged inconvenient positions for use.

The nature of the invention consists in the arrangement and novel construction of the various devices used, whereby very useful and convenient improvements are made, as will be hereinafter more fully explained and claimed.

In the annexed drawings, A designates an upright safe, which is divided, by means of a horizontal partition, a, into twocompartments, the lower oneof which is provided \vitha shelf ors'helves, b. for the reception of plates, dishes, and other like articles of table and kitchen furniture, and the upper one with a vertical partition, 0, between which and the end of the casing are mounted spice-drawers B. Partition 0 extends upward through a capping, O, and cuts ofi therefrom a rectangular space, which, being provided with a bottom, formsa receptacle, 1', above the said drawers, which is closed by a hinged door, d.

I am aware that a meal-receptacle provided with a sliding bottom and sit'ter having a rotary stirrer operatedby a crank arranged on A the exterior of the case has heretofore been employed.

J represents a kneading-trough, which is arranged on partition to, and is designed to vibrate horizontally outward on a pivot, m. This board is adapted to be received in the upper compartment of the safe, and is provided with awing, n, hinged to its inner edge, whereby the board is made to extend entirely across the safe. WVhen board J is not in use wing at willbe folded upon it, and the whole pushed inward into the safe, under spicedrawers B, as shown in the drawings, thus allowing doors II to be closed. Board J is held against downward vibration, when in use, by means of a strip, L, rigidly secured to the back of the safe.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

l. Thefunnehneckf, having projectionz' and eye I, in combination with the detachable sieve-box E, having perforations 6, book k, and crank-arm H on the inside of the safe, as described, and for the purpose set forth.

2. The kneading-board J, provided with hinged wing 12, adapted to be unfolded for the purpose of extending the said board entirely across the front of the sat specified.
