Description
Patented Dec. 25, 1928 WALTER C. ATHON, OF LAVOY E, WYOMING.
' roornnausn HOLDER.
Application filed June 13, 1927. Serial No. 198,604
This invention relates to a combined tooth I brush holder and antiseptic device.
An object of the invention is the provision of a tooth brush holder in the form of an elongated container in which the bristles of the brush are adapted to be held in protected relationand in which an antiseptic solution'or powder is removably supported in the container which will aid in maintaining the air in an antiseptic state to prevent the germs or bacteria from propagating in the bristles.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a tooth brush holder adapted to house the bristlesof the brush which are adapted to be maintained in an atmosphere impregnated with an antiseptic located with- I in the container, the antiseptic being in the form of a liquid or powder capable of giving off fumes or vapors for keeping the bristles of the brush in an antiseptic condition.
This invention will be best understood from a consideration of'the following detailed description, in view of the accompanying drawings forming a part of the specification; nevertheless it is to be understood that the invention is not confined to the disclosure, being susceptible of such changes and modifications which shall define no material departure from the salient features of the invention-as expressed in the appended claims.
' In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in elevation of the tooth brush holder and antiseptic vial removably mounted in the holder,
Figure 2 is a vertical section of the de vice shown in Fig. 1,
Figure 3 is a vertical section of the holder showing the brush removed and the method of removing the vial containing the anti septic,
Figure 4 is a horizontal section taken along the lined- 1 of Fig. 2, and
Figure 5 is a horizontal section taken along the line 55 of Fig. 2.
Referring more particularly to the drawings 1O designates an elongated holder which is closed at its upper end, shown at 11, and open at its lower end 12 for the insertion of the tooth brush 13, whereby the bristles 14 are completely housed within the container. This container may be formed of any material suitable for the purpose but I preferably employ glass, so that the contents of the container may be visible from the exterior. at the upper portion, as indicated at 15, has substantially the same diameter, while the lower portion, as indicated at 16 is progressively expanded until the shoulder 17 is reached, where the holder then is decreased in diameter to form a neck 18 havs 'ing the outer end flared at 19 to provide for the ready insertion of the tooth brush. The shoulder 17 provides means for aiding in supporting the tooth brush within the container.
The holder is supported by an elastic means in combination with abracket which is described and claimed in my co-pending application, Serial #192,738 filed May 19, 1927. This bracket consists of a curved metal member 20 which conforms to the shape of the holder 10 and is semi-cylindrical in shape except a channel portion 21 which is adapted to be secured by means of screws 22 to a fixed support orwall 23 of a room. The ends of the curved metal member are bent backwardly, as shown at 24, providing inturned flanges to receive the opposite ends of an annular rubber member 25 and having the remaining portion in engagement with the outer face of the container and in effect completing the circumference of a circle of which the curved metal member 20 forms a part. By the removal of the elastic member 25 the container 10 is readily released from the curved bracket 20.
The gasket is placed within the neck of The container position of limit in said container. When it is desired to remove the vial, a rod 8% is inserted wthin the container, and a right angularly bent portion 35 is forced through one of the cut out portions 31 of the gasket. The rod is then revolved until the member 05 engages the top of the vial whence a slight pull on the rod will cause the vial to be with I claim 1. A device of the character described comprising a holder providing a housing for a tooth brush, having one end closed and the other end open, a vial located within the holder, a rubber gasket embracing the vial and having its periphery in frictional contact with the inner wall of the holder.
2. A device of the character described comprising a holder providing a housing for a tooth brush, having one end closed and the other end open a vial located within the holder, a rubber gasket embracing the vial and having its periphery in frictional contactwith the innerwa-ll of the holder, said gasket having passages to provide for the circulation of air between the vial and the holder.
