I vaporized.
When the burner is to be lit or relit after a short period of extinction it is necessary to begin by heating the vaporizer: this is generally done by means of a burning pad impregnated with hydrocarbon. My invention provides for suppressing this troublesome and sometimes dangerous operation, at least after a not too long period of extinction.
In View of this a heat accumulator is inserted between the vaporizer and the burner, this heat accumulator being heated whilst the burner is working and adapted when latter is extinguished to give back the heat it has received whereby it can vaporize the hydrocarbonwhen it. resumes its flow towards the burner. The hydrocarbonarrives thus in a vaporized state to the burnerwhich can be lit without any preheating of the vaporizer. V y
My invention can be executed in a great number of manners; thus the heat accumulator can consist in a liquid or a metallic mass. In a similar manner it can be of advantage to take the heat required for heating the accumulator from an auxiliary flame at the end of a branch piping connected with the main passage leading the vaporized hydrocarbon from the vaporizer to the burner.
One of the numerous possible forms of execution is shown diagrammatically and solely by way of example on the appended drawing. The vaporizer 1 through which the hydrocarbon arrives is heated by the flame of the burner 2. According to my inven vtion, the vaporized hydrocarbon, instead of passing directly from the vaporizer 1 into the pipe 3 leading to the burner passes, for instance by means of a coil 4: through'the heat accumulator 5 which can be a water container. This accumulator is heated for instance by an auxiliary flame fed by a shunt pipe 6 off the main pipe 3. \Vhen the burner is extinguished, the hydrocarbon continues being vaporized in the heat accumulator 5 during a period the length of which varies according to the capacity of the said heat accumulator.
lVhat I claim is:
1. In a liquid fuel vapor burner, the combination of a fuel feeding pipe, a vaporizer connected. with and forming a continuation of said pipe, a coil connected with the outer end of said vaporizer, heat storing material in which the coil is disposed, an auxiliary burner adapted to heat said coil and material, means for feeding the auxiliary burner with vapor passing out of the coil, and a main burner adapted to heat the vaporizer.
2. In a liquid fuel vapor burner, the com bination of a fuel feeding pipe, a vaporizer connected with and forming a continuation of said pipe, a coil connected with the outer end of said vaporizer, heat storing material in which the coil is disposed, an auxiliary burner adapted to heat said coil and mate rial, means for feeding the auxiliary burner with vapor passing out of the coil, a main burner adapted to heat the vaporizer and means for feeding last mentioned burner with air and with vapor passing out of the coil.
