UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE I JOSEF GROHS, or WIEN', AUSTRIA.
IIX ATION nnvicn FOR RAILS WITH REMOVABLE Helms;
Application filed .Tune 1927, Serial No."201,898, and in AustriaiJ'uly 2, i926.
This invention relates to a device for fixingthe removable rail head on rails with gutter-shaped top portion. The commonly used fixation means consist either ofscrews which are screwed in perpendicularly to the web of the rail through the head and the upper portion of the rail, or of wedge shaped or flat irons through which the head is clamped on the top portion of the rail. The first kind of fixation requires much time -when the rails are'laid in the ground. The latter kind of fixation is too expensive, and the removing of the wedge-shaped or flat irons is rather difiicult, I According to the' invention the rails are secured against shifting in longitudinal direction by means of simple bolts which are fixed partly in the head and partly in the top portion of the rail.
An embodiment of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which Y Fig. 1 shows the fixation for an inter- Fig. 2 shows the fixation ofarail-head with two running surfaces.
The foot 1 andweb 2 ofthe rail carry a Us changeable rail head on one side of the rail.-
head 5 is situated in the top portion 2 and it is fixed by well fitting fixation bolts; 4 engaging with the correspondinglgrooves in the head 5 and in the top portion 3.v When" d the head 5 has to be removed, the fixation bolts are forced out of the head and the rail in downward direction with thelaid of a.
suitable tool, punchor drifts hammer. Fig. i
2 illustrates a double-sided head? which is embedded in the top portion of the rail 3. Screws 9 serve for securing the bolts 4 in their position.
I claim o 7 Fixation devicefor rails with interchangeable head, comprising in combination with the rai-l head havinggrooves, arail consist mg of a foot a web and a top portion and having grooves in said top portion alining with the above mentioned grooves, fixation bolts driven into said grooves of the rail head and the top portion .of the rail and designed tobe forced out in downward direction when said rail head has to heremoved, and locking screws for securely "holding said bolts in their position,
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature. J
