My invention relates to coin-operating dc vices and refers particularly'todevices of,

My invention,"tl1erefore, presents a device in which a plurality of commodities maybe contained, each in aseparate compartment, access to each commoditybeingaccomplished by the insertion of a coin in a: designated -slot,' or opening; and means whereby commodities may be introduced into the compartments without reference to a coin insertion.

Each sleeve '27 carries a fixedly attached coinoperating arm 28 and a fixedly attached returning arm 29, the latter-being attached by means of a spiral spring30 to a'rod 31 passing through holes in the supports 17,18 and '19, tending to pull the coin operatingarm 28 toward the front of the casing.

Pivotally carried by the coin operating arm 28 at 32 is a rocker arm 33 having the recess 34- and the extended member 35.- v

Fixedly attached to the rod 26 is a locking arm 36 having a-hook extremity 37'.

The operating mechanism comprises a link movement consisting of the link 39 fixedly attached to the revoluble rod 20 andpivotally attached at 40 to the link 41. The link 41 is pivotally attached to the angle link 42 at 43. Pivotally attachedtothe link 42 at44; is the r rod 45 extending through the casing front 11 and terminating in the knob 46.

Extending transversely of the device and above the rod 26 isa platform 47 having a plurality of upwardly extended walls 48, 48, thus forming a plurality of compartments 49. 49.

Hingedly attached to the casing front 11 is a plurality of doors 50, 50, each covering one of the con'ipartments 49, 49. Each door 50carries a locking hook 51 capable of move ment over a recess52 of the platform 47, when the door is in closed position. Each door 50 carries a frame 53 open at the top and capable of receiving a printed card 59. The extreme 50 is shown open in Figures 3 and 4.

A coin receiving slot 54 is positioned in the front 11 below each door 50, and a coin re turn opening 55 positioned beloweach door opens into a receptacle having the inclined bottom 56.

The hinged back 12 is attached to the upper part of the device by means of a chain 57 to limit the downward movement of the back and carries a lock 58 capable of locking the back in closed position.

Assuming that the doors of the device are closed, the operation of the device is as follows A coin of the proper size 60 is passed through a slot 54 and falls upon the base 21 and is held in position by the turned edge 22. The handle 46 is then pulled oiiltwardly operating the link movement 42, 41, 39 and revolving the bar 20. This movement brings the coin 60 in abutment with the coin operating arm 28, a further revolution of the bar 20 causing a revolution of the sleeve 27 moving the member 36 downwardly and releasing the hook 51 of the door 50 allowing the door to swing outwardly and allowing access to the compartment 49. This revolution of the sleeve 27 causes the rocker arm 33 to move downwardly, the spring 30 forcing the recess 34 to engage the bar 31 thus preventing the locking arm from upward movement into locking position. The same movement of the sleeve 27 causes the closure arm 38 to move downwardly the free extremity of which moves across the coin slot 54 and prevents the introduction of another coin until the door 50 is closed. What I claim is y p 1. In a coin-operative device, in combination, a casing, a plurality of compartments within the casing, a hinged door covering the front opening of each compartment, a coin slot for each front door, a revoluble rod passing longitudinally of the device and below the compartments, a coin rest fixedly attached to said rod beneath each compartn'ient capable. of receiving a coin passed through a coin slot, means operatable exteriorly of the casing revolving said rod, means whereby the revolution of said rod will cause a coin deposited upon a coin rest to unlock a front door, means inoperativefroni the front of the casing and operative from the rear of the casing for locking, each front door, means preventing the insertion of a coin into a coin slot when its front door is open and a door covering the rear openings of the coinpartments.

2. In a coin-operative device, in conibiiiation, a casing, a plurality of compartments withinthe casing, a hinged door covering the front opening of each compartment, a coin slot for each front door, a revoluble rod passing longitudinally of the device and below the compartments, a coin rest fixedly attached to said rod beneath each compartment capable of receiving acoin passed through a coin slot, means operatable exteriorly of the casing revolving said rod, a non-revoluble second rod extending longitudinally of the de vice andbelow the compartments, a revoluble sleeve carried by said second rod below each compartment, a coin operating arm carried by each sleeve, means whereby the revolution of the first mentioned revoluble arm will cause a coin carried by a coin rest to abut upon a coin operating arm revolving its sleeve and unlocking a front door, means inoperative from the front of the casing and operative from the, rear of the casing for locking each front door, means preventinging longitudinally oft-he, device and below the compartments, a coin rest fixedly attached to said rod beneath each compartment capable of receiving a coin passed through a coin slot, means operatable exteriorlyiof the casing revolving said rod, a non-revoluble second rod extending longitudinally of the device and below the compartments, a revoluble'sleevecarried by said second rod below 7 each compartment, a coin operating arm car ried by each sleeve, a locking arm carried by each sleeve, means whereby the revolution of the first mentioned arm will cause a coin carried by a coin'rest to abut upon a coinoperating arm revolving its sleeve and causing the locking arm to move from locked engagement with a front door, means inoperative from the froiitof the casing and operative from the rear of the casing for causing said locking arm to move from unlocked'to'lockedlengagement with afront door and a door covering the rear opening of the compartment.
