MANICURING IMPLEMEN I.

This invention relates tomanicuring im-' plements, and the primary object thereof is to provide a three-in-one implement which will take the place of the individual wad of cotton, rosewood stick, and cuticle bottle, and which will yet becompaet in form and simple in construction.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which, while serving the purpose. of the usual orangewood or rosewood stick for pushing back the cuticle and removing foreign accumulations from the inner and outer margins of the nail, also is equipped with means for supplying in regulated quantities to the tip liquid medica- -ments desired to be used in connection with the treatment of the nails.v

Stillanother object of the invention is to provide simple and improved means for controlling the flow of the liquid medicament to-the tip.

In carrying out these objects, the invention is susceptible of a wide range of modification without departing from the spiritor sacrificing any of the advantages of the claimed invention there being shown in the drawings for illustrative purposes a preferred and practical form, in which; v v

One form of the invention is illustrated in Figs. 1 to 3, and a slightly different form in Figs. 4 and 5. In the form shown in Figs. 1 to 3, the implement 1 comprises a barrel-or reservoir 2 constructed of any suitable material, and of any desired size, preferably about the size of a large fountain pen barrel, and which is similar in construction to said barrel, being provided at its front end with an internally threaded portion 2 to receive an exteriorly threaded reduced neck portion 3* of a eone-shapedclosure member 3 preferably constructed of hard rubber and which is de- -si ed as a seat or connector for the tip 6. As shown this tip 6 is substantially ovate in form, and has a bore 8 extending longitudinally through the stem 7 and through thereofmerging at its front end into a transversely extending bore 9 which opens through one side of the tip as shown in Fig. 2, and in this bore is mounted a plug 11 which forms an abutment for one end of a coiled spring 12. the other end of which bears aga'inst'a valve 13 which operates normally to close the bore a 8, the spring 12 holding it in this position. i

This valve 13 has a reduced stem 14 which extends transversely through the other side a portion of the body laterally at right angles thereto and embedded inthebody of the tip, While the other end thereof rests against the outer face of the connecting-member 3. It will thus be seen that a pressure on the spring 15 directly over the stem 14 will operate to movethe valve 13 inward against the tension of spring 12 and thus open the bore 8, which has a branch 17 extending through one face of the tip as shown at 18 in Figs. 1 and 3' and through which the liquid is designed to pass and be-supplied to the fingernail. This bore 17 has its discharge end 18 located in a nipple-like extension to facilitate the application of the liquid to the shown, this discharge nipple 18 is located at one. side of the tip 6 but obviously its location may be varied. The operationof the device it is thought will be obvious, the nipple 18 being placed at the junction of nail while the lever or spring 15 is pressed to open the valve 13 and the device is drawn along the nail at this junction, causing free flow of fluid from the nipple, which maybe pontrolled by varying the pressure on the the cuticle and fingernail.
