IMPROVEMENT IN WRI NGER ATTACHMENTS TO WASH-TUBS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0- 169,146, dated October 26, 1875; application filed October 2, 1875.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ANDREW W. CALD- WELL, of Gainesville, Hall county, Georgia, have invented anew and Improved Wringer Attachment to Wash-Tubs, of which the following is a specification:

Figure 1 represents a vertical central section of a wash-tub with my wringer attached. Fig. 2 is a top view of the wringer-strap detached; and Fig. 3 is a vertical section of a wash-tub of a different shape, with devices for attaching the wringer.

My invention relates to a simple and readily applied wringer device, which may be used in connection with a wash-tub or other support, being attached at one end to the clothes or fabric, which are to be wrung at the other end.

The invention consists of a perforated strap with slotted or buckled end, that is passed through a loop of the tub and formed into a noose that holds the fabric. The perforated end is secured to pins or tongues at the top rim and outside of the tub or other part.

In the drawing, A represents. a wash-tub of any suitable size, or any other device or article to which the wringing device B may be attached. The tub A is provided in the customary manner with a soap-box, shelf, and similar attachments, and also with a loop, a, through which the wringing device B is passed. The wringer B is made of a strap of leather, canvas, cord, or any suitable material, with holes I) at one end, and a slot, loop, or buckle at the other end. The strap is passed through the loop, and the perforated end of thesame then through the slotted end to form a noose of varying width, into which the clothes or articles to be wrung are tightly placed. The Y Wash-tub is further provided at the upper rim with one or more pins or tongues, d, placed on base-tubes d, that are securely applied to the tub. Similar pins d are also arranged at the outside of the tub, at suitable distance below and sidewise of the top pins, for the purpose of locking thereby the perforated end of the wringer-strap first to the rim, and then to the outside of the tub, preventing thereby in an effective manner the getting loose of the strap.

Any one or more of the retaining-pins may be used, according to the length of the strap, which admits of the quick adjusting and fastening of the Wringer-strap. One end of the fabric or article is thus firmly held, so that the other can be taken hold of with bothhands and wrung in a thorough and easy manner. The wringing-strap is thus detached from the pins and the nextarticle applied, and so on, providing thus an extremely simple, cheap, and readily-operated wringing attachment for wash-tubs and other purposes.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A wash-tub or other article provided with an interior loop and projecting pins at the top rim and outer side, in combination with a wringing-strap having slotted and perforated ends to be applied in noose shape to the clothes to be wrung, and securely fastened to the pins for holding thus the article for thorough wringing, substantially as specified.
