Description

Patented ocr. 1s, 192e.A
UNITED lSTATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELBEBT STALIWORTH', 0F AMERICUS, GEORGIA.
ELECTRIC HEATER.
`Application led December 19, 1927. Serial No. 241,104.
The invention relates to improvements. in electric heaters by means of electric heatmg wire extending around a porcelain tube inclosed by a concave reflector which is attached' within the walls of theheater; and by a humidifier located above reflector under top menting the radiant heat from heating wire;
third, to cause hot air `from the vacuum of the reflector to become humidified by vapor from water in a receptacle located in hot air passage under top of heater.
One form of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is algeneral View 0f heater, indicating air outlet through top. Fig. 2 is an interior view of heater, showing location of heating element, concave reflector with perforated cold air inlet and location of the humidifier under top of heater. Fig. 2 also indicates the manner said vparts are attached. Fig. 3 shows an end View of humidifier and its position under top of heater. Fig. 4 is adetail View of heating element, showing the position of the porcelain tube in the socket of the terminal block, the arrangement of the heating Wire' and the manner the heat-ing element is attached to reflector. 1
Figure 1 illustrates hot air outlet 2 in heater top l; the position of waterA tube 3 by which water is put in the humidifier; the humidifier water gauge 4; and the manner in which the heater is held together with flat head bolts 5.
The lower edges of heater are bordered withnarrow piece 7, said border soldered to edges. In Fig. 2, bolts 5 extend through top Vof heater, through rectangular reflector support 14, through edge l5 of heater to nut soldered under said edge 15. AHeating' ele ment 10 is screwed to reflector 6. The reflector is supported by being bolted to rectangu= lar support 14. l Reflector support 14 has air passage at top of reflector same size as opening 18. Humidifier 16 is held in place under top of heater on one end by Water tube 3 which is soldered to top of heater and said humidifier, also by Water gauge tube 4 which is attached in same-manner. At the other end 'the humidifier is soldered to strip 17 which is attached in same manner to side of' top. The humidifier has, as indicated, perforated outlet for vapor. In filling humidifier, water is poured through tube 3 until it appears inv gauge tube 4, which indicates-the level of the Water in humidifier. In Figure 3, the humidifier 'is shown with one side beveled in order that it may fit closely against beveled side of top. The short beveled portion of humidifier near top contains the perforated outlet for vapor. In Figure 4, heating wire extends from terminal through porcelain tube 10, passing through small holes at ltop of tube and in spiral manner around tube to base of same, said heating wire lf3 extends through hole in base and terminal block to terminal as indicated. Porcelain tube 10 with base andsmall cylindrical end fits into socket. of terminal block in manner illustrated in Fig. 4. Two small `screws eX- tending through terminal block cover 9 into terminal block, hold said cover in place. A portion of inside wall of cover-9 near its edge is threaded in orderthatsaid cover with terminal block and complete heatingelement maybe attached to reflector 6, screwed on lower portion of reflector' at 8,
