Description

Patented Sept. 11, 1928.
UNITED STATES resinas PATENT oFFIcE.; j
LEONCIO LOPEZ MOSQUERA, OF BUENOS AIRES, ARGEN'INA.
DEMOUNTABLE BRUSH.
Application filed February It is the primary aim and object of this invention to provide a device of the above character embodying a brush head and 1mproved means adjustably connected with the handle and arranged in surrounding relation with the bristles whereby the length of the latter may be altered to suitthe desire of the user.
More particularly the present invention embraces the provision of a paint brush in which the handle is constructed hollow to adjustably receive the head of the brush while the bridle is adjustably engagedl in surrounding relationl with the handle and the bristles so that either the head orthe bridle may be adjusted relatively to the other to adjust the length of the bristles.
Other objects as well as the nature, characteristic features and scope of the invention will be more readily apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and pointedout in the claims.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of a form of the invention,
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same. j i
Similar characters of reference are employed in all of the above described views to indicate corresponding parts.
Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings there is provided an improved paint brush employing a hollow handle 5 preferably of tubiform construction in cross-section the outer end being en-l larged and threaded interiorly as at 6 vand* ofzteriorly as at 7. The brush head includes bristles 8 which are anchored in the head 9 the latter being exteriorly threaded for adjustable engagement 'withl the threads 6 and also provided with openings l() whereby paint which is contained within the hollow` handle 5 may kflow to the bristles. The bridle-'PL is tubiform in cross-section and has 2, 1926. Serial No. 85,557.
vthe inner enlarged portion interiorly threaded for adjustable engagement with the exterior thread 7 on the handle the outer Vportions of course surrounding the bristles and it is `apparent that by adjusting the brush head 9 in the handle relative to the sleeve or by adjusting the bridle on the handle relative to the brush that the length of the bristles will be varied in order to Ameet these requirements. In addition it is to be noted that when first used the brush head is seated completely within the handle but as the bristles become worn the head owing to its threaded engagement with the handle may be adjusted outwardly in order that the bristles may always be of the required length while the bridle although adjustable independently on the handle coacts in the regular manner with the bristles and the handle. It is believed in view of the foregoing that a further detailed description of the operation of the invention is entirely unnecessary. Likewise it is believed that the advantages of the invention are entirely apparent.
' Having thus fully described the invention what is claimed asl new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is l. A paint brush of the character described, including in combination a tubular .handle having one end opened and threaded interiorly and eXteriorly, a bristle carrying head adjustably engaged with the threaded inner portion of the handle, a sleeve-like bridle surrounding the bristles and having the inner portion enlarged 'and threaded for adjustable engagement with the external threads on the handle, and the head being adjustable independently of the bridle so-` as to provide for the wearing action at the outer ends ofthe bristles carried thereby substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
2. A paint brush of the character described, including in combination a tubular handle having one end enlarged and opened and provided with threads interiorly and exteriorly, a brush including an apertured head and bristles extending from the head, the outer portion of the .head `being eXteriorly threaded for adjustable engagement inner portion enlarged and internally I 'i threaded for independent adjustable engagement with the external threads on the handle, substantially as and for the purposes 10 set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
