BIB CONSTRUCTION FOR OVmALLS.

Application filed December 17, 1927. Serial No. 240,813.

l This invention relates to bib constructions for overalls.

An important object of the invention is the provision of a bib construction such that the upper portion of the bib is reinforced at the points Where the suspender buttons are attached thereto.

A further object of the invention is the prO- vision of a construction of this character, wherein the reinforcement further serves to provide a flap for the usual bib pocket.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a bib construction, which includes a pocket, and in which the pocket flap is constructed in such fashion that it provides a reinforcement for that portion of the bib to which the suspender buttons are attached.

These and other objects l attain by the construction shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment 0f my invention and wherein Figure 1 is a front elevation of a bib` constructed in accordance with my invention;

Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view showing the bib in the process of construction;

Figure 3 is a similar section of a slightly modified structure;

Figure 4 is a section on the line lf-4 of Figure l.

Referring now more-particularly to the drawing, the numeral 10 generally designates an overall hib and 11 an open-topped pocket applied thereto and having its open top disposed adjacent the upper edge of the bib. 12 designates a flap for'the pocket, which is usually secured to the outer wall of the pocket by a detachable connection, such as buttons 13, engaging in button holes lll/formed in the 4o flap j In accordance with my invention in the construction of the bib, the upper edge of the bib is formed with a Hap l5 constituting a continuation of the materia] of the bib and preferably having its side edges 16 cut at the same angle as the side edges 17 of the bib, which usually converge upwardly. To the rear face of this flap, l apply a facing 18, which may be either the same piece of Inaterial, as shown in Figure 3, or an attached piece of material, as shown in Figure 2. The facing Y18 is of greater depth than the Hap 15 and after attachment of this facing, the flap is folded downwardly upon the front face of the bib and transversely stitched, as at 19, to secure the upper edge of the down-bent flap to the bib and to secure the edge of the facing 18. The free portion of the flap, when so positioned, overlies the open top of the pocket to form a 'flap therefor, and may be buttonholed, as indicated at 20, for the reception of buttons 21 to secure the Hap in itspocket clos.- ing position. v

Since the construction hereinbefore set forth is capable of a certain range of change vvand modification without materially departing from the spirit of the invention, I do not limit myself to such specic struct-ure except as hereinafter claimed.

A garment bib having an open-topped pocket applied thereto adjacent the upper edge thereof, and an integral Hap of material upon said upper edge folded upon the front face of and secured to the bib and formin a closure flap for said pocket, and suspen er buttons secured to said bib adjacent the upper edge thereof and through said ap.

A garment bib having an open-topped pocket applied thereto adjacent the upper edge thereof, an integral flapof material upon said upper edge folded back upon the front face of and secured to the bib and forming a closure flap for said pockethsaid flap having a facing attached thereto at the front face thereof, the facing being of greater depth than said Hap, and suspender buttons at the upper edge of the bib and at the front face of the flap, said buttons being secured to the bib by securing means extending through the bib, the flap and through the facing at op osite sides of the bib. i
