Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE;
JOSEPH B. NELBAOH, OF UTIOA, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN CRADLES Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,173, dated September 28, 1875 application filed March 7, 1874.
To all whom itmay concern v Be it known that I, JOSEPH B. NELBAGH, of Utica, Oneida county, New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Gradles, of which the following is a specification: Figure l is a vertical longitudinal section of my improved cradle, taken through the line a: as, Fig. 2; and Fig, 2 is a vertical cross-section of the same, taken through the line 3 I Fig. 1.
The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim. A are the side frames of the cradle. B are the end frames, the lower edges of the lower cross-bars b of which are rounded off to serve as rockers. The rockers I) rest upon the up per edges of the frames G, which edges have flanges formed upon their-inner sides, to keep the rockers b{ in place upon them. The end frames 0 are connected by two or more rounds or bars,D, to keep them in proper relative position. E are coiled springs, the lower ends of which are secured to .the middle part of the end frames 0, and their upper ends are secured to the middle part of the rockers b. The springs E keep the rockers in place upon the edges of the end frame 0, and also hold the cradle, so that it cannot be tipped over by a child trying to climb out of it. The faces of the rockers b are faced with thick cloth or felt, so that the cradle will be noiseless when in use.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, in the manner described, of side frames A A, end frames B B, having rockers b b and the flanged base-frames G O, with the springs E E, all arranged as described, to form a rocking spring-held cradle.
. JOSEPH B. NELBAGH.
