A. TRAUBE CLEANING DEVICE Filed June 26, 1926 A BZAHAM 776/] U 5 E INVENTOR ATTORNEY fill Patented Aug. 7, 1928;
UNITED STATES ABRAHAM TRAUBE, G1 BROUKLYN, NE? YORK.
CLEANING DEVICE.
Application filed June 26, 1926. Serial No. 118,630.
" which must be given special treatment to client their ren10valthe present device will be found particularly advantageous for use in such circumstances.
ll ith the above and other objects in view the invention will now be described with reference to the accon'ipanying drawing in which Figure l is a longitudinal sectional view through a device constructed according to the present invention, and,
Fig. 2 is an end view thereof.
In the drawings, the numeral 4; indicates a receptacle, which may conveniently be in the form or a cylindrical elongated container, adapted to receive and hold any suitable liquid or mixture possessing cleansing or solvent properties and such, for example, as carbon tetrachloride,
At one end 5, said container is provided with a filling opening or nozzle 6 which can be conveniently closed by a eorl; 8.
Integral with or attired to the side wall of the container -Cl is a scraper 10 which on tends forwardly oil. the end wall and preferably curved downwardly or away from said end as shown.
Behind said scraper is disposed one end of: a small tube or pipe 12 which extends through the side wall oi the receptacle and has its other end controlled by a valve 1d, provided with a stem 16 which passes through and beyond a bushing .8 in the end wall 5 and has its extren'iity provided with a head 520 between which and the bushing); 18
is mounted a spring; acting to normally keep the inner end of the tube 12 closed.
Attached to 01' integral with the side wall of the container opposite to that which. car-- rice the scraper is a holder 24; adapted to receive a brush 26. The said holder prelierably constructed to permit of the removal of the brush for renewal or other purposes. Vl hen it is desired to use the device, it being assumed that the desired cleanser or solvent has been previously poured into the container, the device is grasped in the hand and the scraper brought to bear on the spot or mark to be removed and at the same tiine the valve head E20 depressed by a linger or the thumb to open the valve 1d and perinit liquid to flow through the tube 12 on to the spotor marl: as may be found necessary to aid in softening the spot or marl: and facilitating the scraping operation.
l hen the above operation. has been car ried .t'ar as may be judged expedient, the device turned in the hand and the brush brought into play, the above operations being alternated until the desired ell'ect is obtained.
It should be noted that as the container l is air-tight or practically so, only co1nparatively small quantities oi. the cleanser or solvent contained therein can be caused to flow from the tube 12 while the scraper 1.0 is being used. It therefore the container only partially filled, on the brush 24: being); brought into use the necessary reversal of the device in the hand to el'l'ect this will :liree the tube 12 from such cleanser or solvent and sullicient air will then leak in past the valve 1% and permit lii'irther liquid to flow from the C(llliiitllllll on the scraper being again brought into use. lit is for this rea son that the brush and the steamer and tube are respectively located at dianictrically opposite points on the side wall oi. the receptaclc.
In accordance with the provi ions of the patent statute, l have i i cribed the principle of my invention, together with. the apparatus which I now cor ider to re n'cscnt the best embodiment thereof, but l desire it understood that my invention is not confined to the particular form of apparatus lerein shown and described, the same luring; merely illustrative, and that the invention can be carriii-id out in otl'lcr ways without departi from. the spirit of my invention, and, therefore, I claim lin'oadly the right to employ all equivalent instrunientalities coming within the scope or the appended clain'is, and by means of which objects of my invention are attained, and the new results accon'iplished, as herein forth, as it is obvious that the til] particular embodiment herein shown and described is only one that can be employed to attain these objects and accomplish these results.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A fountain device for use in the dry cleaning of textiles comprising a hollow cylindrical handle adapted for use as a conthe tube.
2. A fountain device for use 'in the dry cleaning of textiles comprising an air-tight cylindrical handle adapted for use as a container for the liquid to be used, a scraper integral with the side wall of the container projecting from the container beyond the end thereof, an outlet tube for discharge of the liquid to be used, having its discharge opening adjacent the scraper, and means for controlling the flow of the liquid discharged through the tube.
3. A fountain device for use in the dry cleaning of textiles comprising an air-tight cylindrical handle adapted for use as a container for the liquid to be used, a Scraper projecting from the container beyond the end thereof, an outlet tube projecting through the side wall of the container for discharge of the liquid, having its discharge opening adjacent the scraper, and having a bore adapted to deliver only small quantities of the liquid at each discharge, and means for controlling the flow of the liquid dis charged through the tube.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
