UNI ED STATES PATENT Fri.
GEORGE A. MYERS, OF BROOKLYN, E. D., NEW YORK.
|MPROVEMENT IN BLl ND-SLAT ADJUSTERS.
I Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 167,923, dated September 21, 1875; application filed July 24, 1875.
To all whom it mag concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. MYERS, of Brooklyn, E. D., Kings county, New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Window-Blind Adjuster, of which the following is a specification: 1 v
Figure 1 represents a pair of window-blinds to which my improved device has been applied. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same taken through the line mm, Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a detail section taken through the line y 3 Fig 2.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved device for adjusting and fastening the slats of a window-blind at any desired angle, and for securing the blinds at an angle with each other, and which shall be simple inconstruction, convenient in use, and reliable in operation, and not liable to get out of order.
The invention will first fully be described in connection with drawing, and then specifically pointed out in the claim.
A represents a window-frame. B represents the blind-frame. 0 represents the slats, and D the bar by which the slats O are connected, adjusted, and made to move together. E is a hook so formed as to hook snugly upon the edge of one of the slats G, and to the shank of which is pivoted the upper end of a rod, F. The lower end of the rod F is pivoted to a block, G, by having an eye formed in it to fit into a groove in the said block G, or in any other convenient way. The block G is dovetailed or grooved to fit into a dovetailed or T groove, formed in the plate H, which is secured to the bar of the blind-frame B, so that the slats C may be adjusted at any desired angle with the frame B by sliding the block G up and down in the groove of the plate H. The block G is secured in place in the groove of theplate H by a hand-screw, I, that passes through a screw-hole through the block G, so that its forward end may rest against the plate H, and thus clamp the block G in place.
By this construction, by loosening the screws I and slipping the block G up and down the slats C may be adjusted at any desired angle with the frame B, where they may be firmly secured in place by again tightening the said screws I J is a hook, which books into an eye, h, formed upon the lower part of one of the plates H, and the shank of which is pivoted to a similar eye, h, formed upon the other plate H., The hook J enables the blinds to be secured in place when adjusted at an angle with each other. In case the slats of a blind are made in two or more sections, two or more hooks, E, and rods F may be connected with the same block G.
I do not claim, broadly, the employment of an adjustable stop in connection with the pivoted slats of a blind or shutter; but
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and .desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with the pivoted blindslats O O, of hook E, link F, dovetailed block G, screw I, and grooved or dovetailed plate H, as shown and described, to secure said slats in any adjustment.
