To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD W. BRETTELL, of the city of Elizabeth, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented an Improvement in Sash-Latches for car and other windows, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification in which- Figure 1 shows an outside view of the plate; Fig. 2, an inside view of the same; Fig. 3, the bolt withdrawn; Fig. 4., a transverse section, and Figs. 5 and 6 show each a longitudinal section.
My invention consists of a novel contrivance by which the bolt is immediately withdrawn when an efiort is made to open or close the window, as will be hereinafter more fully explained.
