In my business, we find that we cut out a great many discs which are of practically no value except as junk metal. It is possible in the manufacture of a toy herein under consideration, to utilize this otherwise waste metal to great advantage and therefore produce a toyat a very modest cost.
In making this toy I preferably use two sizes of discs. In Figure 1 I have shown the discs 10 of the larger size riveted together near their edges by means. of rivets 12. The rivets 12 `are put in by machine which is so adjusted that the rivets will be made just tight enough so that the discs may be swung on their pivots to a great variety of posi- .tions with relation to each other and will be frictionally held in any of the positions to which they may be adjusted.
I have shown in my drawings, the figure of a man but it will be understood that iigures ofy various kinds of animals may be made.
For forming the limbs of animals I secure as for instance in making a leg, a plurality of smaller discs 14 successively to one of the discs 10 and to each other as shown in Figure :relativelyfnarrow space. l y [a head 18 with av special die. Thehead can bev painted or otherwiseiinished as lmay. be p 1927. 'a serial No. 57,105.

As many of the smaller? discs-'14am usedy as the length of limbsY require. The 'arms are made 1n the same way. .j u
For f eet'I make the following provision :-v One of the larger discs 10 is provided with a tongue'l bent outwardly slightly from theV pianeofthedisc'10- Thistongue ispivoted tonithe outer, smaller vdisc 14 of the leg as indicated at A in Figure 1' or at V'A in Figure 2. When manufacturing Y process Vhas been completed, the foot V,disc 10 lliesjalong side the outermost;` disc I14 ina-plane parallel therewith. This, makes a convenient arrangement for shipment orstora'ge and leaves the completed toy substantially flat.
The legs Lland'arms B can be swung uni der the body portion of the animal so that' the limbsare thus collapsed or folded into a I preferably form desired. The head is secured to one of the discs 10 by means of a rivet 12, in the Vmanner hereinafter described;
Where the toy represents an animal, the
the outermost discs 14 vare preferably pro- Y Y vided with tongues 20 bent outwardly slightly from the-bodies of the discs. These tongues 2O may be used for inserting certain articles such as a small toy ytennis racket 22. f
The outermost discs ofthe limbs ma be provided with the tongues 20 in the animal figures so that for example, a cat may be made to hold the figure of a mouse or any other article suitable for the purpose.
The whole figure can be folded in va very small space forming a substantially flat package and can be for storage or shipment. When the toy is taken from the package the feet discs 10 are bent from the position paralj lel to the discs 14 towhich they are pivoted'y by bending the tongues 16 until the -feet discs 10 stand at right angles to the adj acent' discs 14 as illustrated bydotted lines in Figure 3. The feet discs 10 will then support the figure as shownin Figures 1 and 4. Y
, The toy can be adjusted on its pivots to a i great variety of positions. In Figure 4 I have shown an adjustment of the toy shown in Figure l. A
It Willbe seen from the foregoing that T have produced a toy of very simple structureY which can be made out of inexpensive mav terial.
For a toy like the one illustrated, thereare needed two sizes of discssome ofawhich are cut to provide the tongues 1:6 and 20 which would .really mean fourkinds/of discs, ahead and'rivets Such'altoy can be.madeto.repre' vsent camelggirai'es, cats; orpother. animals each of Whichiis capable 'otadgustment to a-v great vvariety, of" positions. for the amusef ment of children. i i v Thediscs should havesullioient lresiliency so thaty the. tongues V2O will'l have a gripping, action on tlie member ,22, or they like` andl shouldbe made ofsuohfmaterial asto permit:
