REMOVABLE WINDOW, TAG FOR BINDERS.
Application filed November 2 1925. Serial No. 71 ,()70.
This invention relates to removable tags for books, the invention having more particular reference to a novel type of remove able tags for use on loose leaf binders and the like.
The invention is particularly adapted to be used as a means of readily changing the title or any other information which may be placed on the tag.
A further object is to provide a device of this nature which may be cheaply and readily manufactured.
Another object is to provide a device of this nature in which the tag will not be detached, except at such times as desired.
F or further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to'the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
Fig. 1 of the drawing is a perspective view of my improved removable tag, as it would appear when attached to a loose leaf binder.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Fig. 3 is a similar view to Figure 2 but with the tag and holding means therefor removed.
As here embodied our improved removable tag comprises briefly a tag 10 of any suitable dimensions, which may be of one piece, as shown on the accompanying drawing, or any number of pieces placed side by side, and having any desirable writing or printing such as designated by the numeral 11.
The aperture 12 is conveniently located at or near the top of the back of the binder proper, and the back has stitched at 13 or otherwise attached thereto any transparent material 14:, such as celluloid or the like, so as to cover the said aperture. There being left a suitable slot 15 for the inserting of the tag 10, the said tag being of a length which will permit of its extending above the top of the binder proper, as shown on the accompanying drawing.
It will be understood that the aperture 12 and the slot 15 are formed by the covering material 16 of the loose leaf binder.
We have shown a method of holding the tag 10in place in the slot 15 by means of a suitable strip 17 having attached thereto at or near its upper extremity a cap member 18 of a snap fastener of the conventional design to engage with a socket member 19 of the same design attached to-the back-of the b nder proper, the strip 17' having stitched or otherwise attached thereto a plurality of p1eces20, of fabric, felt or any other suitable material, and so attached as'to form an outer uneven or rough surface which will hold the tag 10 in place in the slot 15. When it is desired to remove the tag 10, the snap fastener cap 18 isremoved from the socket 19 and the strip 17 and the tag 10 are repioved, leavingv the binder shown in Fig.
It is obvious that we have provided a re movable tag for loose leaf binders and the like, which may be readily removed and replaced as desired, it is also obvious that we have provided a removable tag which will not becomedetached except at such'times. as desired. i
While we have above described the preferred form, construction, and arrangement of the several elements employed, it will be understood that the device is, nevertheless susceptible of considerable modification therein, and we thereforereserve the privilege of resorting to all such changes as may be fairly embodied within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described our invention what we claim as new, and desire to protect by .Letters Patent of the United States is as follows 1. A removable window tag structure for binders, or the like, comprising a cover, a
covering material attached to said cover, said covering material being formed with a aperture and a slot, a tag engageable in said slot, and extending behind said aperture, transparent material covering said aperture, and a strip. engageable in said slot and having attached thereto a plurality of pieces, in such a manner as to form an outer uneven surface as a means for holding thesaid tag in place.
2. A removable widow tag structure for binders, or the like, comprising a cover, a covering material attached to said cover, said covering material being formed with an aperture and a slot, a tag engageable in. said slot, and extending behind said aperture,
transparent material covering said aperture, and a strip engageable in said slot and having attached thereto a plurality of pieces, in such a manner as to form an outer uneven surface as a means for holding the said tag inplace, said strip having 'attached thereto at'its outer extremity a snap fastener me1n-- ber and a coactino snap factener member being attached to the back of'the said cover.
3. In a, removable Window tag structure,
-- outer uneven surface as a means for holding the said tag in piece.
4. In a removable window tag structure for binders; or the like, having a slotand an aperture, the combination of a engage-able in said slot, and eXtending behind said aperture, and a strip engageable in said slot and having attached thereto a plurality of pieces, in'such a manner as to form an outer uneven surface as a means for bolding the said tag in place, said strip having attached thereto at its outer extremity a snap fastener member and a coacting snap fastener member being attached to the back f the said binder proper.
In testimony whereof We have afiixed our signatures.
MAX W. FEDERBUSH. JACOB D. FEDERBUSH.
