ADVERTISEMENT CARRIER.

This invention relates to advertisement carriers or enclosing devices.

One object of the inventionis to provide a device of the Character described comprising a novel combination of an envelope for a booklet or pamphlet and an extension cover for carrying a message, letter or other legend. 7

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described adapted to form an advertisement mailing carrier of improved construction for a booklet or pamphlet and an accompanying letter on an extended cover portion thereof, which carrier shall positively secure the contents therein yet permitting easy access for postal inspection when required.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described comprising a neat and attractive advertising folder or mailing wrapper of simple construction, which shall be cheap to manufacture, and practical and efiicient to a high degree in use.

Referring in detail to the drawing, 10 denotes an advertisement carrier or enclosing device embodying the invention and as here shown is formed of a single sheet of material cut to form a blank indicated at B in Fig. 1. Said blank is creased, folded and pasted to form an envelope portion E for enclosing a booklet or pamphlet P and an extended cover portion C extendingfrom the side of the envelope for carrying a letter or other legend L. The blank B may be formed of any suitable sheet material, such as cardboard, heavy or light stock paper, or the like andis preferably formed of three portions, one end portion forming the cover portion C, a central portion 10 and another end portion 10", said end portions extending longitudinall central portion. The end portion 10 is folded over on the creased line 10 and is permanently secured to the central portion l0,in any suitable manner, as for example by the pasted flaps 10 10 and 10 formed to extend from the edges of the central and

10 and 10 respectively, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 to form said envelope portion E.

Said end portion 10 is provided with a slit 10 extending transversely the length of the envelope inwardly from the top edge thereof, a closure flap F for said envelope E being formedto extend beyond the end of the central portion 10 and adapted to be inserted in said slit, as will hereinafter more fully appear.

The practical use of the device 10 will now be apparent. After cutting the blank B as shown in Fig. 1 the envelope portion E is formed by folding over the end portion 10 and pasting the flaps 10 10 and 10 to the central portion, as shown in Fig. 2. The contents, such as a booklet or pamplet Pmay now be enclosed in the envelope by passing it through the slit 10 and the flap F folded over and inserted into said slit for securely retaining the contents in the envelope portion E. It should be noted that the flap F forms a reinforcing thickness of material "for the slitted end of the envelope portion E, as is clearly seen from Fig. 4. The cover portion C is now folded over on the creased line 1O to overlie the flap F and form a.

The advertisement carrier 10 as described above formsan attractive advertising folder from opposite sides of the or mailing wrapper of simple construction, and when used for third class mailing permits ready access to the contents of the envelope portion for inspection. As seen from Fig. 5 it is merely necessary to partially unfold the end of the cover portion G, withdraw the flap F and remove the contents from the envelope portion E. The contents may then be replaced, the flap F reinserted and the wrapper restored to its normal mailing condition.

It should be noted that the contents P after being inserted in the envelope portion are readily moved to the end thereof beyond the slit 10 so that accidental displacement of 'the contents from the envelope portion through the slit is prevented. The outer sides of the cover or central portions C and 10 provide suitable space for the mailing address and stamps and also make it con- 'venient for cancellation of the stamp by the made of the above invention, and as various tu changes might be made in the embodiment above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawing is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A complete article of manufacture comprising a single sheet of material creased to have central and end portions, one of said end portions folded over said central portion and secured thereto to form an envelope, said envelope having an opening, a closure flap for said opening adapted to retain the 'contents of the envelope, the other end portion being foldable over said envelope and adapted to bear a legend on the inner face thereof, and means for securing said legend bearing section to said envelope.

2. A complete article of manufacture comprising an envelope provided with an end opening and a closure flap therefor, a section of substantially the same size as the envelope extending from one side thereof and designed to have a legend imprinted thereon, and means forsecuring said section in overlapping relation to said envelope.
