This invention relates to domesticY or'Y household incinerator which is more par-` `ticularly intended. for destroying by fire garbage andrefusederived yfrom the kitchen character to so organize the same that itwill consume the material rapidly, economically and without creating any oifensive'odors.1Y
The object of this invention'is theproduction of an incinerator which accomplishesf these requirements satisfactorily vby means which can be operated easily, conveni'entlyV and at comparatively low cost.

Arranged centrally within the combustion chamber and above .thel base is a pedestal which comprises anupright hollow column 6, the upper vend of which is closed andthe `lower end of which flares downwardly andis secured by bolts 26 to the top kof the base. aroundthe opening 22 so'that the lower end of the column communicates with the base. On its exterior the column is provided with a plurality of upright lutes or channels 27, each channel being preferably formed between a pair of upright ribs 28 projecting laterally from the periphery of the column,

As the flames issue from Ithe upper ends of the channels on the column the same are deflected latere-ily over the top of the mass et.' refuse in the receptacle by a baille 3,5 ofl dislg` form'nornifally resting on theV upperend of the column and overhanging the same,'there by compelling the gas flames to spend their Vfull eifect on the garbage for drying and burning the same before escaping through the smoke pipe.
This baffle is preferably connected by arins, similar to that shown at 36 in Fig. l, with the feed door, so that upon opening the latter the baille will be raised out of the pathv of incoming refuse and when the feed door is closed the baffle is again lowered into its operative position ontlie distributor column.
