ICE-CREAM-CONE RECEPTACLE.

Application led February 23, 1927. Serial No. 170,374.

This invention relates to the class of special receptacles and pertains partlcularly to a receptacle designed for carrying edible articles.

The primary object of this invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a receptacle for carrying articles which must be maintained in upright' position and is particularly constructed to receive cones of 1ce cream or the like so that the same can be easily and safely transported and at the same time be covered and protected from dustand dirt. f

As is well known at the present time, when a person desires to carry one or more cones of ice cream to another at a remote point, the cream must be carried uncovered through the open street, or else is covered by placing a paper bag thereover or by wrapping tissue paper around the cone. This method is very insanitary and further allows the cream to melt more readily if the cream is to be carried in the sun. The resent invention aims to overcome these o jectionable features by the provision of a suitable receptacle havin a rack therein provided With apertures 1n which the cones are placed and held in upright position. A hinged cover is provided to close the receptacle and thus keep the contents thereof free from dust and dirt. v

A further and final object of this invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, an article of the above described character, which will be light and easy to carry, strong and durable, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture and set up.

Numerous other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent as the description of the same proceeds and the invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming` a part of this specification, with the understandin however, that the invention is not con ned to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawings, but may be changed or modied so long as such changes or modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claims.

Referring now to the drawings in detail wherein like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the preferred form of construction of my device is shown as a rectangular body having the front and rear walls 1 and 2 and end walls 3. The top edge of the back wall 2 is provided with the flap cover or lid 4 having the down turned flange 5 along the front or free edge thereof, which flange extends into the top of the receptacle against the front Wall 1 when the lid is closed, as is clearly shown in Figure 3.

In the present construction, the cone carrying receptacle or bucket is shown without a bottom, but it is of course to be understood that applicant does not limit himself to a structure of this character for the same may be provided with a bottom if so desired.

Applicant also wishes it to be understood that a receptacle of the design herein disclosed is not the only type which may be employed for a round receptacle or one of any other configuration may be used if so desire'd.

The front Wall 1 of the receptacle is provided with a pair of spaced parallel longitudinally extending slits and the portion lying between these slits is forced inwardly to set up the longitudinally extending strap 6 spaced from and in parallel relation to the inner face of the front wall and havin the ends secured thereto in the manner s own most clearly in Figures 2 and 4.

Arranged within the body of the'receptacle is a partition or false bottom, 7, one edge of which is turned downwardly as indicated at 8 while there is secured to the central portion thereof, adjacent the opposite edge the angled bracketV 9, one side of which is secured tothe under side of the partition 7 while the other side thereof extends downwardly therefrom with the outer face flush with the adjacent side edge of the bottoni. The depending leg portion of the bracket 9 is of the proper width to allow its being inserted through the strap loop 6 between the same and the adjacent face of the wall 1. The body 7 is thus held in position within the receptacle in the manner clearly shown in Figure 3.

The bod of the partition or false bottom 7 is provi ed with a plurality of apertures 10 which are of sufficient size to take the major ortion of an ice cream cone.4 As Will b e rea ily understood from a study of Figures 1 and 3, the cone is, when inserted in these apertures, held in upright position 'within the receptacle and when so placed the cover may be folded downwardly and closed to protect the contents of the receptacle.

From the foregoing description, it will be f readily understood that with a receptacle of the character described, a plurality of ice cream carrying cones may be easily, quickly and cleanly carriedV from one point to another.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim 1s:

A collapsible ice cream con-e carrying receptacle of the character described, comprisin a body including front, back and end Wa ls, a cover hino'ed to the top edge of one wall, an elongated strap body struck from said front wall and' arranged in spaced parallel relation with respect tothe inner face of the same, a supporting partition fitting Within the body and having a plurality o apertures formed therethrough to receive and support ice cream cones, means for hinging one edge of thel partition to said back Wall, and a tongue carriedv at the front edge of said partition designed to engagey through said strap to support the partition in position within the receptacle.
