IMPROVEMENT IN PILLOW-CASE FRAMES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 167,369, dated August 31, 1875 application filed January 29, 1875. 1
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS I WALTER, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have in vented a Skeleton Pillow-Frame, of which the followin g is a specification:
The object of my invention is to make a skeleton-frame which can be introduced into and serve in place of stuffing for ornamental pillow-cases now in general use for the purpose of rendering beds attractive in appearance; and this object I attain in the mannerI will now proceed to describe, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a sectional view of the frame on the line 1 2, Fig. 2; Fig. 2, a plan view, and Fig. 3 asectional view of part of the frame.
The main frame consists of four steel strips,
A A A A each strip overlapping and being connected to the adjoining strips, as shown. One arm of the strip A, for instance, is provided at its outer end with a guide, a, for receiving one arm of the adjoining strip A and a screw-clam p, a, is arranged to embrace both arms, and connect them together, and this plan is adopted with all the bent strips.
When the screws of the four clamps are loosened the frame can be readily adjusted both laterally and longitudinally, to suit the size of the pillow-case.
Any desired number of hoops or ribs B, which I prefer to make of hoop-skirt wire, may be secured to the frame, each hoop being made in two parts, overlapping each other, and connected together by clamps m, which will permit the hoops to accommodate themselves to the frame when the latter is expanded or contracted laterally.
I prefer to attach to each end of the frame two elastic strips, D D, in a manner too clearly shown in the drawing to need description, these strips tending to maintain the corners of the frame in a proper shape.
I claim as my invention A pillow-case frame consisting of a series of adjustable hoops, 13, supported by a rectangular frame, A, capable of being enlarged and contracted, all as set forth.
