To all whom t may concern,.-

Be it known that I, WILLIAM T. LORIMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Sham Pillows; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.

My invention has for its object to provide as a novel article of manufacture, a sham pillow, and it consists of the devices and appliances, their construction, combination and arrangement as hereinafter specified and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure 1 isa plan viewy Fig. 2 is a longitudinal cross section on the line -a: Fig. 1. The purpose of my invention is to provide a sham pillow which when in place, shall have all the appearance of an actual pillow, and which may be preferably removed entirely from the bed. To this end my invention contemplates an article of this class, which will be simple, economical and efficient.

I carry out my invention as follows: A represents a frame, preferably made of wire, to form two sham pillows, in connection with other parts united therewith. The entire frame for the double sham pillows is preferably made of a' single piece of wire, bent as shown in thfe drawings, that is, the central portion forming one side of each of the two squares, and also means for connecting them together, and each end of the wire being bent into proper form, as a square for instance, the wire beingl brought back so that the two squares are nearly in contact with each other and the ends of the wire are carried in parallel with each other and united in any proper manner, as by soldering to the adjacent longitudinal portion A of said frame at a slight distance from each other. It makes no differable heft in the construction thereof.

encehowever, whether said longitudinal portion A forming one side of each square or sham pillow frame forms the lower or upper portion thereof. The two extremities as so shaped form two parallel sides of the two sham pillow frames, which frames may be designated by the letters A2 and A3. lTo facilitate the union of said extremities to the bar or side A', I prefer to bend said extremities at right angles as shown at a and a. Between said parallel sides which are designated by the letters A4 and A5, and toward the opposite side of the double frames, I locate an angular brace m2, which may be united to the sides A4, A5 in any suitable manner, as by soldering the same. Upon each portion A2 A3 of this double frame, I engage pillow forms B and B respectively. These forms maybe constructed of any suitable material. For example I may employ sheets of paper of suit- Thus a sheet of paper may be suitably shaped by slitting the same at or toward the four cor ners thereof, as shown at 12. vThe sheet may then be readily pressed or shaped into desired form to give it the proper appearance outwardly of a pillow. I do not limit myself to any one method of engaging the pillow forms upon the frame A. This may conveniently be done, however, by providing the edges of the paper with two rows of perforations b and 192. The edges of the paper are then folded over the corresponding sides ofthe wire frame between said rows of perforations, so as to bring the perforations of the outer row co-incident with the perforations of the inner row. Any suitable staple E or other v fastener may then be inserted in the coincident perforations to hold the pillow form upon the frame. As so constructed the form may readily be removed from the frame in oase it is desired to renew it, and to apply another in its place. I prefer to engage upon the frame an intermediate panel C the ends of which may be properly engaged upon the adjacent portions of the frame. Upon the outer face of these pillow forms I engage pillow shams E and E2 in any suitable manner. For -example the staples or fasteners E heretofore referred to inserted in the coincident perforations of the form may be passed through4 the shams, or a suitable number of them, to

hold the shams firmly in engagement with the forms, so that they will not slip out of place or become disarranged. The frame with said forms and shams being all thus united, are simultaneously removable, making it convenient to handle the entire device. The intermediate panel C supports the inner edges of the shams in a tasteful manner, so as to conceal the bed therebeneath. At the outer edges of the frame A, I design to locate an angular or other suitably shaped hanging F, to fall down over the frame at the end thereof, to conceal the side of the bed thereat. These hangings may be engaged upon the frame in any suitable manner. Thus they may be stitched to and form a part of the shams E and E2, or they may be separately attached upon the frame, or the adjacent form, as may be preferred.

I would have it understood that I do not limit myself solely to the particular construction of the frame hereinbefore described, nor to that of the sham pillow forms. It will be evident that the whole structure is light and easily handled, and may be employed either with or without underlying pillows upon the bed.

As an article of manufacture, the frame with the sham pillow forms engaged therewith, may be put upon the market, the purchaser to apply the sham, or the completed device with shams attached, may be sold to the purchaser.

What I claim as my invention is 1. In a removable'sham pillow, the combination, with a frame of two forms secured thereto, said frame consisting of a single piece of wire, the central portion of which forms one side each of two squares, and the ends of the wire being bent to form the other sides of the squares, and being secured to the central portion adjacent to each other, substantially as set forth. f

2. In a removable sham pillow, the combination, with a frame, comprisingasingle piece of wire the central portion of which forms one side each of two squares and also the means of connecting them together, the ends of the wire being bent to form the other sides of the squares and secured to the central portion at a slight distance apart, of an angular brace between the ends of the wire adjacent the sides of the frame opposite the central portion of the wire, a form on each square anda panel on the brace and the central portion of the main wire, substantially as set forth.
