FENCE-POST EXTENSION.

In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, the extension 1, which may be of cast steel or other metal, is preferably of cruel-form as depicted in Fig. 3

of the drawings, and is formed with an' enlarged angular inner end 2 which latter is provided with an openlng 3. The opening 3 extends through the top and bottom faces of the enlarged end 2 and is shaped in crosssection to conform to the particular crosssection of the post +1: that may be employed. Obviously, the opening 3 can vary in crosssection to correspond to that of the usual post 4 and by virtue of the opening extending through the upper and lower faces of the enlarged end 2, it will be noted that the extension can be disposed in varying positions as illustrated in full and dotted lines in Fig. 1. i

The sidewebs 5' and 6 of the extension are notched as indicated at 7 and 8 respectively, so as to receive the usual barbed wire and its fasteners By referring to Fig. 1, it will be seen that the extension may be disposed to extend upwardly from the fence post 4 on either side thereof and by removing and inverting the extension same may be likewise disposed on either side of the post 4 but extending downwardly at an angle from the latter.

The enlarged end 2 may be secured in posit-ion by any suitable means such as for in stance by wire staples 9 or the like.

From the foregoing, it will be seen that with the present invention the extension may be used in a multiplicity of positions and at any time may be changed to various positions within the limits above described, as desired.

lVhen the extension is used to project upwardly from the fence post, the latter extends through the opening 3 from the bot tom face thereof, and when the extension is used to project downwardly from the post, the latter projects through the opening from the top face of the opening, shown in Fig. 1.

What is claimed is:

1. Tn a fence post extension, a body having OPPOSGd notched longitudinal webs to engage barb-wire or the like, and an angular enlarged end on the body, said enlarged end having an opening extending through its upper and lower faces to receive the up per end of a fence post through either of said faces, the opening being formed so as to receive the post with the body disposed onv either side of the post and extending either upwardly at an angle to the post or illownmirdly at an angle thereto. I

In a fence post extension, a body having an angular enlarged end formed with an opening extending through its upper and lower faces to receive the upper end of a fence post through either of said faces, the opening being formed so as to receive the post with the body disposed on either side of the post and extending either upwardly at an angle to the post or downwardly at an angle thereto.

3. In a fence post extension, a body having an opening extending through its upper and lower faces toreceive the upper end of a fence post through either of said faces, the

opening being disposed at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the body so as to receive the post with the body disposed on either side of the post'and extending either upwardly at an angle to the post or downwardly at an angle thereto.
