UNITED STATES PATENT EEICE.
JOHN N. BOHART, OF DENISON, TEXAS.
IMPROVEMENT IN BEER-REFRIGERATORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,742, dated August 17, 1875 g application led July 10, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN N. BoHART, of Denison, in the county of Grayson and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Beer-Refrigerator, of which the following is a specification:
Figure lis a vertical longitudinal section of my improved refrigerator, taken through the line :v x, Fig. 2, and showing the beer-keg in place. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section of the same, taken through the line y y, Fig. l.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved refrigerator for cooling lager-beer in the keg, and which shall be so constructed as to cool the beer quickly, and keep it cool for a long time with a small quantity of ice, and which shall be simple in construction, convenient in use, and very compact, requiring but little space. The invention consists in the beer-refrigerator formed of the skid, the ice-box, and the outer box or case, constructed as hereinafter fully described, to adapt it to receive a beer-keg, as set forth.
A represents a lager-beer keg, which rests Aupon a skid, B. C is a frame similar to a skid, which fits upon the upper side of the keg A. The frame C is lined with zinc or some other sheet metal D, that will not corrode, and the middle part of which is so formed as to it upon the upper side of the keg. The
frame C and lining D thus form a receptacle or box to contain the ice and salt, and its construction brings the ice close to the upper part of the keg. The box C D is provided with a closely-fitting detachable cover, E, as shown in Figs. l and 2. F is a box or case, which is made of such a size as to receive the skid B, the keg A, and the ice-box G D E. The box F is provided with a closely-fitting cover, G. -In the front of the box F is formed a slot, f', for the faucet H to pass through, which slot is covered with a slide, I, the lower end of which is notched to fit upon the shank of the vfaucet H. The quantity of ice may be regulated according to the degree of coldness to which the beer is to be reduced. The box F Gr keeps the warm air away from the keg A and the ice-box C D E, so that the ice may do its work, and may not be Wasted.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 'lhe beer-refrigerator formed of the skid B, the ice-box C D E, and the outer box or case F Gr, constructed substantially as herein shown and described, to adapt it to receive a beerkeg, as set forth.
JOHN N. BOHART.
