Application iledisepteniber 9, 1927. Serial No. 218,544.
The object of my'invention is to provide a novel and easily operating machine for cutting openings'for fasteners in metal sheets to be used as forms for making concrete i; fence posts and which is especially adapted V for cutting the peculiar type of openings required in the fence post forms which Ihave patented and Which are used in producing the fence posts in which are embedded the i@ peculiar, type of fasteners devised and patented by me.
I attain the objects of my invention by the `device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in Whichn Figure l is a side elevation of my invention with a portion of saine shown in longitudinal vertical section;
Fig. 2 is a. section on line 2--2 of Fig. l; and 20 Fig. 3 is a transverse section on line 3 3 p of Fig. l. y
Like numerals designate like parts in each of the several views. s Referring to the accompanyingv drawings I provide a base l having a channel 6 extending longitudinally of the base and directly under the perforated portions of the metal CII plate, as shown in. FigxQ. Mounted on basev l is a. sheet of metal 2 having' round openings 8 and slots t, the slots and round openings beingsuccessively arranged in close position to each other as shown in 'Figsjfl and 2 of the drawings. The base l Ais cut out as indicated at 5 in appropriate shape to receive the sheet of metal which is to be perforated before being shaped into the required form for making concrete fence posts. I provide a top member 7 fastened to the base l by a hinge 8 at one end and having a handle 12 at the other end. I provide a metal plate 9 allixed to top 7 and having aser-ies of spacedbars l() and posts l1 -correspondingly positioned to the round openings 3 and slots 4 in the metal plate 2 of the basel to permit said projections 10 and 11 to extend into the slots 3 and openings 4 when the top standing member 7 is brought down and the bars I() and posts ll are pressed through the metal sheet (not shown) Which is inserted in the recessed portion 5 of the base l and perforated to receive the fasteners which are inserted in the forms before concrete is poured whereby the fasteners are molded lin the postsfand may be readily Withdrawn` from the peculiar type of forms which I have patented. 6 i
rIlle device is manually operated the sheet of metal being fitted into the recessed portion 5 of the base land the upper member 7 brought ydown With sufficient force to stamp the perforations through the blank` metal sheetias` Will'be readily understood from the foregoing description and accompanying drawings.
lVhat I claim isl. In a device for stamping perforations in 4sheet metal forms for making concrete posts, the combination of a base having a metal strip mounted thereon, said strip having.perforations of the required shapeto receive the desired type of fasteners, a channel extending longitudinally of the base and directly under the perforated portion of the metal plate, a top hinged to the base at one'r end, said top having a handle at the other end, and a metal plate aiixed to the top, n said plate having a series of projections corresponding in shape and position With the perforations in the metal plate carried on the base, the base also being suitably recessed to receive the sheet of metal to be perforated.
2. In a device for stamping perforationa in sheet metal forms for making' concrete posts, the combination of abase having a metal strip mounted thereon, said strip having perforations of the required shape to receive the desired type of fasteners, a channel extending longitudinally of the. base and directly under the perforated portion of the metal plate, a top hinged to the base at one end, said top having a handle at the other end, and a metal plate affixed tothe top, said plate having a series of projections corresponding in shape and position with the perforations in the metal plate carried on the base.
3. In a device for stamping perforations in sheet metal forms for making concrete posts,'the combination of a base having a metal strip mounted thereon, said strip having perforations of theirequired shape to receive the desired type of fasteners, a channel extending longitudinally of the base and directly under the perforated portion ofthe metal plate, a top hinged to the hase at one end, an a met-al plate atiixed to the top, said plate having a series of projections corresponding in shape and position withfthe perforations in the metal plate carried on the hase, the base also being' suitaloly recessed to receive the sheet or' metal to be perforated.
4. In a device for stamping perforations in sheet metal forms for making concrete posts, the combination of a hase having a metal strip mounted thereon, said strip hav ing a series of perforations consisting,l of slots and round openings in proximity to the slots successively arranged t-o receive the desired type of fasteners, a channel extending longitudinally otI the base and directly under the perforated portion or the metaly plate, a top hinged t-o the base at one end, and a metal plate atlixed to the top, said plate having a series of projections corre* sponding in shape and position with the perforations in the metal plate carried on the hase, the hase also being' suitably recessed to receive the sheet of metal to he per 'forated 5. In a device for stamping perforations in sheet metal forms for making' concrete posts, the combination of a hase having; a metal strip mounted thereon, said strip having a series of perforations consisting ot slots and round openings in proximity to the slots successively arranged to receive the desired type ot' fasteners, a channel extending longitudinally7 ot' the hase and directly under the perforated portion of the metal plate, a top hinged to the hase at one end. and a metal plate afixed to the top, said plate havingl` a series oi projections corresponding; in. shape and position with the perfora yions in the metal plate carried on the hase, the base also'heing suitably recessed to receive the sheet or metal to he perforated, the hase being recessed in the same taperingl shape as the sheet of metal from whichA the form is to he made.
