Similarly, the steam escaping from the nozzle-passages impinges upon the buckets 37 before mentioned, by which its direction is reversed against a stationary series of buckets 52"projecting outward from the stator-disk 11 and by them it is again reversed in direction against another annular, rotating series of buckets 53 projecting inward from the rotor-ring 38, and so on against alternating series of stationary and 'rotating buckets, and finally escaping out-- ward into the right-hand end of the hollow rotor-member, from' which it passes" through the righthand end oithe exhaustchannels l9 into the ei haust-chainber and ultimately out through the exhaust-passage 51 in thesupporting-arm23 aforesaid.
By constructing the turbine as above described, the.whip, which is inheren't'to'the rotary-member ofturbines of prior type, minimized to such an extent as to be pract-ically eliminated, with the result that the turbine is more eflicient and longer-lived.
I claim: a
1. Ar steam turbine, having a stator-ineinber consisting of two stator-disks, each of which has a substantially fiat faceand 1S provided with an outwardlyextending supporting-arm; means for securing the said stator-disks together with the flat face of one dislr engaging the flat face of the other disk; standards connected to' each support- I ing arm for preventing the'rotation of the said statoi member; a hollow, cylindrical rotor-member enveloping the said statormember; and bearings interposedbetween each of the opposite side-walls of the said -stator-1nember and the said supportingarms. A steam turbine, having a stator-member provided with two oppositely-extending, axially-arranged supporting-arms; an axial inlet-passage formed in one of the said arms; an axial exhaust-passage formed in the other of the said arms; a nozzle-fixture carried by the said stator-member; radial. inlet-channels formed in the said statorunember and connecting the said inlet-passage and the said, nozzle-fixture; standardsconnected to each supporting-arm for preventing the rotation of the said stator-member; a hollow, cylin drical rotor-member en eloping the said stator-member; bearings interposed between each of the opposite side walls ofthe saidv statoraneniber and the said supportingarms; and exhaust-channels formed in the said stator-men'iber and connectin the said exhaust-passage with the interior of the said hollow rotor-member.
