With this object in view, the invention consists. in a construction and combination of parts of which a preferred embodiment is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein: y Figure 1 is a side elevational View of the invention.

Figure 5 is a perspective view illustrating the carrying tongues for the molded fire-pot. The device comprises the hollow core 10 and the shell 11, both being of inverted frusto-conical shape, since it is essential that the molded fire-pot be of such shape. The shell comprises the sections 11 and 11 each transversely semicircular in form and each on its opposite edges being formed with a series of spaced tongues rolled to provide sleeves 12 which, when the two sections are disposed together, are in intercurrent relation and receive the locking rods 13, the latter at their upper ends being provided with handles 14 by which the rods may be withdrawn and inserted in the assembling and disassembling of the shell. The two sections of the shell are provided each with a radially extending foot 15 formed with perforations for the reception of nails or fasteners 16 by means of which the shell may be secured in position on the supporting surface.

end and the outer diameter of the core 10. The arch plates are secured to the shell in any appropriate manner, the core engaging edges being formed to a shorter radius than the shell engaging edges. This construction provides a tapering shape transversely for the arch plates, so that the sections of the shellmay'b'e readily removed from product "after casting the latter. V f w The core 10 is retained in its position within the shell, so that it may not rise from the latter during the operation of casting the fire-pot, the means for retaining it consisting of a plurality of anchoring hooks 20 engaged with ears 21 secured on the inner surface of the core and anchored to the supporting surface in any acceptable manner, as by nails or, as shown, by staples 22 with which the the molded extremities of the anchoring hooks 20 en:
gage. In the molding operation the core is first placed and the anchoring hooks 20 secured, after which the shell is disposed in surrounding relation to the core, the arch plates 19 serving as separators representing the thickness of the wall of the cast firepot.
The feet 15, of course, serve to hold the shell in position but as a further assurance against it moving at its upper end when the loose material is being poured in, brace rods 2d are provided, having hooked terminals engaged with cars 23 disposed on the. outer surface of the two sections of the shell adjacent the upper ends of the latter, the remote ends of the brace rods being secured to the supporting surface by appropriate fasteners such as nails, or, as shown, by staples 25 with which the extremities of the rods are engaged. 1
In the molded fire-pot a grate is used consisting of a piece of wire netting 26 cut to circular form and of sufficient diameter to engage the wall of the pot above the openings 18. i
The carrying tongues illustrated in Figure 5 consist of complemental elements 27 formed with intermediate semicircular oppositely disposed arch portions 27 from which emanate at opposite ends the radial portions 0t prising a core provided which the portions 27" are hingedly connected as indicated at 28, the straight or radial portions 27 being unconnected. The tongues constitute a carrying means for the cast lire-pot the two elements being swung apart to dispose the arch portions 27 in surrounding relation to the pot when the straight portions 27* and 27 constitute handles by means of which the pot may be carried.

A mold for thepurpose indicated comprising a core provided with anchoring means, a shell consisting of complemental sections provided with intercurrent sleeves, rods having handles formed at their upper ends and engageable in said sleeves and projecting beyond the lower edge of the shell to provide anchoring points, archplates secured to the shell at the lower edge and serving as spacersbetween it and the core, and
spacers between it and brace rods detachably connected with the shell at the upper edge and provided with means for anchoring them in the-plane of the bottom edges of the core and shell.
