, Application med March 25,1927. seria1m -17a25a This invention relates generally to improvements in tiles and binders adaptedto' supporty and maintain in assembled condition a plurality of lea-ves, pamphlets, journals or magazines.

The invention contemplates the Vprovision of an article of the above-mentioned character wherein the assemblage of parts results in the production of ay complete device adapted to bind together la-plurality of leaves for convenient reference or rea-ding. The invention is further featured by means for maintaining the parts inv assembled relation after the binding .of leaves therein, said means-beingreversely operable for the purpose of separating certain parts in order to add another quantity of leaves;

A further object is to provide means directly connected to said leaves for binding the samebetween the parts ofthe holder or file.

A still further Objectis to provide means Vfor detachably locking. theiparts together to prevent accidental separation during the handling thereof, such as for. reading or other reference purposesrand also functioning as additionalmeans for pendantly supportingithe same when not in use.

With these objects in View, together with otherswhich will appeal' as the ,descriptiony proceeds, the invention resides in the novel formation, combination, and arrangement of parts all as will be describedr more fully hereinafter, illustrated in the drawings, and particularly pointed out in theclaims.

I now call. particular attention to` the meansV formaintaining theparts 6iand 7 in assembled relation, andr considering 'for the moment the top portion or member 6, illustrated in Fig. 2, it is noted .that adjacent the extremities of Said member are arranged depending hooked members 19 and 20, which are secured at their tops to said member, as indicated at 19a and 20a, in any approved manner. Each' of said members 19 and 2O are provided with lateral projections 21 and 22, substantially flat at the base thereof but having their upper edges rounded over and inclined, as indicated at 23 andv 24. f 7

ConsideringV now the assembling of the parts, Without reference to the leaves' therebetween, it Willv be seen in Figi 3 that said y and into said slots 25 and 26 adjacent the left side` thereof, a slight sliding movement of said part 6 with respect to part 7 causes the lateral portions 21 and 22 to engage the view of the rounded disposition of said hooked members, as indicated at 23 and 24, f a cam edge is provided upon which therpins v27 and 28 may ride in order to effect a tight transverse pins 27 and 28, which ride upon the rounded edges 23 and 24 thereof to bind the parts i-n the position indicated inFig. 1. Said parts 6 and 7 are just as readily disassembled bysliding back the part 6 untill the hooked members are disengaged from the pins 27 and 28, whereupon said part' may be lifted bodily therefrom.

While I consider the vcooperation between said hooked members and pins suffi-` cient to maintainithe parts in assembledrelation, I prefer to provide secondary means in the form of a rotatable catch 30, which is insertible in the bore 29 of the parti 6 and" is provided with an eye 31 for hooking the holder to a suitable support. In Fig. 1, said catch 30 is shown with its offset 32 substantially abutting the lower member 7, and thus in the eventgsaid member 6 tends to slide upon its companion member 7, said offset abut-s the end of the latter and maintains the parts together. When it becomes necessary to separate thev members 6 and 7, the catch 30 may be rotated to bring said offset above the end of member 7 and Vmember 6 may thenbe slid rearwardly to effect disengagement as aforesaid.
