ROBERT MARBAOH AND HERMAN MARBAOH, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN SLEIGH-BELLS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,396, dated August 3, 1875; application filed July 6, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, R. MARBAGH and H. MARBACH, of Cleveland, in the county of Guyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sleigh-Bells; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.
The nature of our invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a sleigh-bell attachment for harness, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which our invention appertains to make and use the same, we will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a front elevation of our invention.
A represents a two-armed or two-legged stand, to be attached to the pad of the harness. At the upper end of the stand A, on each side, is a curved projecting arm, B, at the outer end of which is suspended a hell, 0. From the center of the stand A projects a vertical post, a, on which are placed two gongs, D D, one inverted against the other, and above said gongs,
from the post, project a series of curved arms, I) b. At the outer end of each of these arms is suspended a clapper, d. The clappers are alternately of different length, so that onehalf of the number will strike the upper and the other half the lower gong. Above the arms I) are two arms, h h, projecting one on each side, and having holders E formed on their outer ends. From each holderE depends a horse-tail, G, as shown.
The sleigh-bell attachment is surmounted with an eagle or other suitable ornament, H.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The stand A, having gongs D D, post a, curved arms I) b, with their clappers d cl, arms B B, side bells G 0, arms h h, with the holders E E, all arranged as shown, and for the purpose described. I
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
It. MARBAOH. H. MARBACH. Witnesses:
