Application filed March 5, 1927. Serial No. 173,131.
This invention relates to certain improvements in cap removers and it an object of the invention to provide a device of this kind which may be employed to advantage in removing caps from milk bottles or the like.
Another obj ect of the invention is to provide a device of this kind constructed in a manner whereby a cap may be loosened from the bottle or other container without loss of contents.
i The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my im- 5 proved cap remover whereby certainimportant advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and other wise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set 0 forth.
The novel features of my inventon will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my. invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein cap remover constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention;
Figure 21s a view partly in section and partly .in elevation of my improved remover as herein disclosed and in applied position,
improved cap remover as herein disclosed.
As. herein set forth, my improved cap remover comprises a body B of molded white rubber or kindred material having a reduced portion 1 adapted to be snugly engaged within the neck N of a milk bottle or the like outwardlyof an applied stopper cap or disc C. Disposed radially within the central part of the reduced portion 1 of the body B and preferably adjacent to the junction of said portion 1 wit-lithe outer portion 2 of the body is a strand 3 of wire of rust-proof metal, the extremities of which being continued by the right angular ex? 3 tensions 4 of a length to project beyond the is a view similar toFigure 2 outer face of the reduced portion 1. The extensions 4 have their exterior portions continued by the inwardly and downwardly curved arms 5- having their extremities pointed to readily penetrate an applied cap C. These arms 5 are also curved in a direction substantially concentric to the periphery of the reduced portion 1 of the body B. a p
The outer portion 2 of the body 13 provides means whereby the device may be readily grasped,
In practice, when it is desired to remove a closure cap or disc G, the reduced portion of the body B is inserted within the neck Not a bottle or the likeand the body B given a turning motion resulting in the arms 5 passing through the cap or disc C. The
body B then lifted or pulled out of the neck N removing the cap or disc C therewith and without any loss of the contents of the bottle.
It is also to be understood that my improved device can be readily employed as a very handy cover fora milk bottle after the cap C has been removed. My improved Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a device can be employed for this purpose to advantage until the bottle has been emptied of its content. The efficiency of my device as acover is materially facilitated in view of the fact that thebody B is of rubber thereby assuring the same tightly and effectively engaging within the neck a From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a cap remover constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in. carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim i Anextractor adapted to be used for removing. a disk cap from the mouth of a milk bottle comprising a body of pliable material having an annular edge surface adapted to fit snugly in the mouth of the arms disposed in opposite directions around the inner surface of the body, said arms having portions of their lengths clinched 10 against the inner surface of the body and "said arms terminating in pointed extremities inclined away from said surface.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature- STEPHEN NEMETH.
