Patented July 27,1875.

UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
FRANK E. DRINKHOUSE, OF PHILLIPSBURG, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN CLAMPS FOR HALTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 66,082. dated July 27, 1875; application filed June 26,1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK F. DRINKHOUSE, of Pl'lillipsburg. in the county of Warren and in the State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clamps for Halters; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the aceompanyin g drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of an attachment for rope halters, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which Figure l is a perspective view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same.
A represents a rope of suitable thickness for making a halter. On this rope is placed a clamp made in two semi-tubular parts, B and O. In the center of the part U is formed a hole with female screw-threads at a. D is a ring or loop, provided with a screw or screwrod. 1). This screw is passed through the part B of the sleeve, and through the strands of the rope, and then screwed into the center nut 01. of the part 0 of the clamp.
This device will fit all sizes of rope used for halters. and when the clamp is fastened it is impossible for it to slip on the rope and choke the horse.
It can be shifted from point to point on the rope at a moments notice, and will not require any tools to do it.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with a rope halter, A, of a bisected clamp, B O, ring D, and screw b, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claimthe foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 24th day of May, 1875.
FRANK F. DRINKHOUSE.
