Application filed August 10, 1926, Serial No. 128,416, and in Hungary August 14, 1925.
This invention relates to a cartridge-guide for single-loading, or non-repeating firearms which guides the cartridge placed between the rear end of the barrel and the open breech into the chamber at the closing of the breech.
This mechanism is of great importance in connection with firearms of the kind in which the simple closing of the breech does not ensure a perfect introduction of the cartridge into the chamber. It wilLbe seen therefore that the object of the invention is to provide. for an easier and quicker loading of the gun. y
In order that the cartridge-guide should not disturb the operation of the breech it is resiliently mounted so that it yields to the closing breech and moves away from its path.
In the accompanying drawing one form of the cartridge-guide according to the invention is shown by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a vertical, longitudinal sectional View of the breech casing of the gun with the cartridge-guide, the latter having yielded to the breech which is closed.
Fig. 2 is a view corresponding to Fig. 1, with openbreech, the chamber of the barrel being in section and a. cartridge introduced.
of the breech casing a lever 5 which may be swung round the pin 4. The head.6 of
the lever 5 reaches through the opening 7 of the breech casing in the inside of the said casing. The lever 5 is subject to the action of a spring 8 which pushes the head 6 of the lever into the interior of the said breech casing. The head 6 is provided with av sloped guiding surface the rear end of which is in level with the bore of the breech casing while its front end is in level with the lower edge of the chamber.
If now a cartridge is placed at open breech into the cavity between the. rear end of the barrel 1 and the front terminal of the breech and the breech is closed the latter pushes the cartridge into the chamber while the cartridge is exactly guided by the guiding surface 9 of the head 6 into the chamber. At the forward movement of the breech 3 the same pushes out the head 6 from the breech casing by means of the sloped surface 9 against the action of the spring 8 so that the cartridge-guide does not constitute any oi stacle at the closing of the breech.
I claim In a single-loading firearm the combination with a breech casing, a breech movable therein and a chamber of a lever pivotally mounted onthe breech casing, an opening in the breech casing, a head on the said lever entering the said opening, a sloped surface on the said head leading to the chamber and a spring pushing the head of the lever into the breech casing.
In testimony whereof I have allixed my signature.
