This invention relates to music-leaf turners and, more especiallyfto improvements in the apparatus illustrated and described in U.. S. vPatent No. 1,481,308, issued yto me February 19,1924f Its object being to improve the construction ot' the apparatus above referred to to render the same more eli'icient and convenient to use.

lith these ends in view the invention consists in the novel construction, adaptation and combination ot parts hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings,-

Figure 1 is a front elevation ol' a musicstand embodying my improvement; Figs. 2 and 3 are horizontal sectional views taken on lines 2 2 and 3-3 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 4 is a perspective view ot a portion of the pedal support.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 represents, generally, the post member of a music stand connirising telescopically arranged parts 6 and 7. Said postis supported upon two front legs 8 and a rear leg 9 which are pivotally connected to a collar element 1() secured to the lower end ot the post part 6 and connected by braces 11 with a sleeve 12 which is secured in adjusted positions to the post as by means et a .latch 13. Detachably connected to the post part 7 is a vert-ical extension 15 to the lower por tion of which are hingedly connected by means of pivot 16 ybracket members 17. Each of said bracket members is in the nature ot an angle-bar having` a horizontal 'lange element 171 and a vertical flange element 172. Y

18 represent foldable link elements connected to the post extension 15 and said 'bracket members, and cooperating with wing bars 19, which are pivotally` connected to each other and said links, to afford a backing tor music sheets which are held in place as by means of spring wire arms 20 attached to pivot pins 21, as shown.

The lower ends ot such sheets are engaged in clips 22 secured to the bracket flanges 171. rlhe parts above described constitute a known construction of music stand.

In the present invent-ion, like that illustrated in the aforesaid patent, there is provided upon each of the brackets 17 a lever which by means ot a pin 23 is tulcrumed Vt0 the respective horizontal `flanges 171 to provide relatively short and long lever arms 2,4 and 241.

The longer arms 2&1 carry devices .vhicli will be presently described for holding a sheet of music.

To accommodate the horizontal swingingr movements of the lever arms 21, t-lie bracket flanges 172 are slotted as at'251.

The music leaves which are to be turned are carried by the longer arms 211 and to connect the leaves thereto, upon each ot these arms there is provided a vertical rod 25 hingedly connected to a carrier 2G which is adjustably slidable upon the arm, said rod being provided adjacent its upper end a clip 27 within which is engaged the outer edge of the upper portion of the music leaf as L in Fig. 1.

The lower edge of a music leaf is held against a fence element 28, carried by the lever arm 241, by means ot a clan'ipingpiece"v Y 29 pivotally connected to the respect-ive rod 25 and engageable between such lcat and a post element 30 extending upwardly from the lever arm. Said clamping piece is formed ot wire and is bent back upon itselt to afford an end 291 Fig. 2 which cooperates with the main portion of the clamping piece to constitute, in effect, a searvspring 'or urging the leaf against said tence;

Similarly to the carrier 26 for the rod 25, the fence 28 is adjustably slidablc on the lever arm 241 toward and from the axes ot the pivotalconnections 23 of the latter for the purpose of regulating the positions ot the leaf holding devices suitable to diilerent widths of leaves.
