Figure 5 shows a plain channel bar 18 as having attached to its upper outer surflilce 11* separate flat metal strip 30, perforated to receive the handle anchorages 20 and coiled to produce longitudinal down-turned beads 31, ultimately closed upon the entered edges of the bag side flaps 27.
In Figure 6 the lower portion ofthe chan nel side ends are bent outward at right angles, as at 32, and pierced to receive the ends of fixed rods 33, extending from end to" end of the structure and adapted to receive loops at formed on the upper edges of the side flaps 27.
Another modification, disclosed in Figure i 7, shows a plain metallic channel 18 to the outer side faces of which the upper edges of the flaps 27 are securely held by metal strips 35 having at their upper edges outwardly curled elements 36 over which the flap material is disposed, the strips being he (1 by rivets passed through the walls of the channel. l t
Figure 8 is quite similar to the foregoing, except that metal strips 35 are direct connected to the channel sides, the strips having 1 beads 38 on their upper edges to engage and securely clamp the flap material therein.

From the foregoing, it may be seen'that a compact, frameless bag has been disclosed showing a single bar element in a number of have been described with considerable detail, it is not intended that the same be construed as limitative, but merely illustrative, as further changes may be made without the exercise of invention or conflicting with the scope of the appended claims. 1
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
ljA frameless bag comprising in combination with a-flexible body having a thin unitary plate of firm material extending from end to end and top to bottom, of a channel bar fixed on the upper edge of said support, outer cover walls for the bag and means associated with said bar for carrying the outer cover walls.
2. In a frameless bag, the combination with the body and the covers thereof, of a stiff partition extending coincidently with the edges of the bag, a channel shaped bar extending lengthwise at the top of said partition, and means carried by said bar to per manently clamp the'covers of the bag.
3. In a frameless bag, the combination with the body thereof, of a stiff partition extending coincidently With the edges of the bag, a channel shaped barmounted centrally thereon to extend the full length of the bag, flap covers for said body, and means on said bar to positively engage said covers per1nitting'them to be raised and lowered.
4. In a frameless bag, the combination edges, a metallic channel secured tothe upper edge of said plate, flaps disposed over said pockets, and curled elements combined with said channel to support said flaps. V
6. A bag comprising a flat plate, flexible pockets attached on opposite sides of said plate, at their bottom and end edges, a metallic channel secured to the upper edge of said plate, flaps disposed over said pockets, and curled beads carried on the lateral elements of the channel to clamp the upper edges of said flaps.
