When packaging shoes or the like, it is quite desirable that the partition wall extend diagonally, inasmuch as this shape permits the bag to accommodate itself to the shape of the shoes, as the latter are wider across their soles than across their uppers.

This securement of the side edges of the partition wall is made while the sheet passes over the forming machinery from the roll of paper, in a continuous operation, the side walls of the bag being folded inwardly toward one another. In order to form the bags without Waste of material, the web is severed in such-a way that an extra length of material from one panel is removed adjacent the mouth portion of the bag and is added to said panel adjacent the bottom portion of the bag, and in this case the panel being so severed is thelower panel I. The bottom ends of the thus folded and pasted sheet are then folded transversely across the material of the bounding walls and partition wall and pasted or otherwise secure-d thereat to maintain the parts in said assembled relationship, with a permanent bottom closure. The bag bottom is reinforced by spacing the line of fold at said bottom, farther back from the adjacent terminating ends of the bag structure, and whereby this line of fold is transversely across all of the thicknesses of material.

Having thus described my invention, it is obvious that various immaterial modifications may be made in the same without departing from the spirit of my invention; hence I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the exact form, arrangement, construction and combina tion of parts herein shown and described, except as limited by the state of the art to which this invention appertains, and the claims hereunto appended.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A bag formed of a pair of opposed panels, the bottom end of onev of which-projects longitudinally past the other, and side walls and a partition wall substantially coextensive in length and terminating substantially at the bottom end of said second panel, said entire bag formed of a single sheet of material, said sheet folded lengthwise. with :one longitudinal free edge secured to the exterior of and forming a part of one of said panels, and the other longitudinal free edge securedto theinside of the other panel, and said projecting end of said panel folded transversely upon the other panel to form the bottom closure of the bag.

2. A bagcomprising a pair of panels, side. walls connecting said panels, and a partition Wallacross said panels intermediate said side walls, all of. said walls and one of said panels being substantially coextensive in length, and the other panel projecting longitudinally past the same, said en-. the bag formed of a single sheet of material folded lengthwise with one longitudinal freeedge secured to the exterior of and forming apart of one of said panels, and the other longitudinal free edge secured to the inside of the other panel, and the said projecting panel portion folded transversely of itself together withthe other panel and side wall andpartitionstructure; onto the latter panel to form the bottom closure of the bag.
