In these views the reference*character l designates a door hingedly mounted in a suitable frame 2 and controlling access to a garage or other building. right 3 to which the door is hinged there is .mounted a kbracket member el, and a co-act ing bracket member 5 is secured to the interior tace of the door approximately midway of the height of the door. That is to say, the operator by exerting a slight upward pressure upon the inner portion of the bar 9, can lift said bar sufficiently to disengage the notches 13 and l5, whereupon said bar may serve as ahandle for pulling the door shut. It is also evident that said bar may serve as a handle for actuatingthe door to its opened position.

In case it is desired to retainthe door in any intermediate or partially opened position, it ispnecessary only toy tighten the set screw 16 in such position of the door, where upon the rod 9 will form a rigid connection between the door and frame.

If it be desired to swing the door beyond its fully opened position or for any other reason to render the door independent ot the holder, this may. be accomplished by tends to equalize such strains as may act meV upon the hinges oi' the door While held in any position by said holder. Furthermore he described location of the holder facilitates its adjustment or removal and avoids the necessity for the use ot a step-ladder or the like, in attachingor detaohing` the said holder. i

The construction is one that achieves a maxin'uun simplicity, avoiding necessity for ropes, chains or pulleys, and the like, and is consequently adaptable to manufact-ure at lon' cost,

The combination With a hinged door and its trame, of a bar pii'oted at its inner` end upon said 'ramevand extending toward the t'ree edge ot the door, and a bracket attached interioi'ly to said door formed with an opening slidably receiif'ing said bar, and further formed with a notch in the Wall of said opening, said bai` being formed in its outer portion with a notch engageable in an opened position oi" the door with the notch of said bracket to maintain said position.
