JA further object is to provide :i `door the .interior ofthe garage. p

released' from the 'trame ot, the-1 doorso as to il'j'perniit a tree-,swinging ofthe door independently o said device.
lt is an object also to adapt adoor'holder to be mountedin its position'efusef'quickly VandV without the necessity of a step-ladder orthe like.
VThese and variousother objects are attained by the. construction hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing wherein5-- y Figure 1 is an interior View of: agarage door and its frame showing the installation thereupon of the herein describedholder.
Figure Q is ya sectional'view of the same taken upon line 2 2 of Figure 1 and showing various positions of the door andholder.
`Figure 3 is an elevational view partly in section on line 3--3 of Figure 4 of a bracket upon the door and a holding rod engaging said bracket.
Figure flis a fragmentary side view of the outer end of said holding rod, section# ally showing said bracket.
In these views the reference*character l designates a door hingedly mounted in a suitable frame 2 and controlling access to a garage or other building. right 3 to which the door is hinged there is .mounted a kbracket member el, and a co-act ing bracket member 5 is secured to the interior tace of the door approximately midway of the height of the door. The bracket has a lug 6 projecting therefrom formed with an opening 7 in which is pivotally engaged the down-turned inner end 8 of a holding bar 9. The bracket 5 is Vformed with a projecting lug 10 formed with an the openii Upon the upopening 'i-n which saidv 'bar isslidably 'moun-t'e'd; The outerend ot'said ibaris 11'13- turned as indicated at 12 to form-aniabutment engaveable withtheylng lO-toiflimit vtravel o:t"the'door.

Tofpermit the 'door tobefseeured inlian'y intermediate -pesition jthe llug "5 carries a set screw k"'16 whichisadapted 'to project clamped;fagainstt fthe i bar =9rto n' prevent rela- It is a highly desirable feature of said construction that the door may be released from its opened position, in which the notches 13 and 15 are inter-engaged, without the necessity of the operator leaving the garage. That is to say, the operator by exerting a slight upward pressure upon the inner portion of the bar 9, can lift said bar sufficiently to disengage the notches 13 and l5, whereupon said bar may serve as ahandle for pulling the door shut. It is also evident that said bar may serve as a handle for actuatingthe door to its opened position.
In case it is desired to retainthe door in any intermediate or partially opened position, it ispnecessary only toy tighten the set screw 16 in such position of the door, where upon the rod 9 will form a rigid connection between the door and frame.
If it be desired to swing the door beyond its fully opened position or for any other reason to render the door independent ot the holder, this may. be accomplished by tends to equalize such strains as may act meV upon the hinges oi' the door While held in any position by said holder. Furthermore he described location of the holder facilitates its adjustment or removal and avoids the necessity for the use ot a step-ladder or the like, in attachingor detaohing` the said holder. i
The construction is one that achieves a maxin'uun simplicity, avoiding necessity for ropes, chains or pulleys, and the like, and is consequently adaptable to manufact-ure at lon' cost,
What l claim is l. The combination With a hinged door and its trame, of a bar pii'oted at its inner` end upon said 'ramevand extending toward the t'ree edge ot the door, and a bracket attached interioi'ly to said door formed with an opening slidably receiif'ing said bar, and further formed with a notch in the Wall of said opening, said bai` being formed in its outer portion with a notch engageable in an opened position oi" the door with the notch of said bracket to maintain said position.
2. rIhe combination with a hinged door and its frame, olf a bar piyoted aY its inner end upon said frame and extending toward the free edge oi the door, the lower portion of said bar being` reduced in width at its outer end and formed With a notch in said portion, and a bracket interiorly attached to the door formed With an opening` slidably receiving said bar, an edge of said opening` being` engageable by the notch of the bar in an opened position of the door to maintain ysaid position. i
3. rlhe combination with a hinged door and its frame, of a bracket mounted upon said frame, a bar having a downturned in- .ner end pivotally engaging said bracket and being formed with an abutment at its outer end, the lower poi-tion of said bar being reduced in width at its outer end, said bar being freely removable from said bracket, and a second bracket interiorly attached to said door and slidably engaged by said bar, .said abutment oi' the bar being engageable with the second bracket in au opened posi.- tion ot' the door to resti-ain the doei` trom turther opening movement.
rlhe combination with a hinged door and its iframe, oi' a bar piifotcd at its inner end upon said frame and extending intcriorly ot the door toward the free edge oi the door, the lower portion of said bar being reduced in Width at its outer end and formed with a notch in said portion, and a bracket interioi'ly attached to the'door formed with an opening slidably receiving` said bar, an edge of said opening being engageable by the notch ot the bar in an opened position of the door to maintain said position, and means carried Aby said bracket for clamping the bar to the bracket in a selective position of the door.
n testimony whereof sign this specilication.
