Application filed July 1, 1924.
'l he invention relates to a dispensing cabineli, and more especially to paper dispensers of the cabinet type.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character,wlj1erein folded sheets can be withdrawn there-from one at a time, without the necessity of any feeding or delivering device, the body of the cabinet being of novel constructionto assure the dispensing of each sheet and the exposure of a succeeding sheet from within the body, until all of the sheets have been used or extracted therefrom.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a cabinet of this character, wherein the package of folded sheets will be con veniently held, so that the'entire number of sheets of the package will be successively extracted, without janibing or choking of the dispensing slot in the body of said cabinet the sheets being readily and easily withdrawn from within the body.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a cabinet of this character,
which is extremely simple in construction,
thoroughly reliable and efficient in purpose, strong, durable, and inexpensive in man ufacture and installation.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of con struction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described illustrated in the accompanying drawings and. pointed out in theclaim hereunto ap pended.
To enable the invention to be thoroughly understood, reference is had to the acconr panying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which:
Figure 1, is a perspective view of thecabinet constructed in accordance with the in vention, showing one portion of a folded sheet extending from the dispensing slot in said cabinet.
Figure 2, is a bottom plan view thereof.
Figure 3, is a vertical transverse sectional elevation.
Figure 4, is a similar view, showing a sheet almost entirely dispensed from the cabinet.
Figure 5, is an edge view showing the method of folding the paper sheets shown in the other figures of the drawings.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.
Referring to the drawings indetail, A,
Serial No. 723,439.
designates generally the cabinet for con taming and dispensing folded sheets, the invention not being restricted to any particular character of folded sheets of paper, and this cabinet comprises a body 10, preferably made from metal, though itcarf be made from any other suitable material that may e found desirable, and is formed witl a solid top 11, opposed parallel end walls 12, and a front wall 13, the latter being straight for a half of its length and the remaining half lower portion curves inwardly to the bottom edge of the body 10, for a purpose presentlydescribed.
Slosing the rear of the body 10, is a back section 14:, which is hinged through the me drum of pivots l5, engaged in the end walls 12, and flanges 16, formed on the longer sides of said back section i l, these pivots being located at the extreme lower portion of the body 10, as will be apparent in Figure 1, of the drawings.
The back section lat, at its lower end is formed with an inwardly curled edge 17, to enact with the lower edge 18, of the front wall 13, so as to eliminate any possibility of the sheets of paper slipping out of the cabinet at this point. I
The upper end of the back section 1 1-, is formed with a keeper 19, with which is adapted to engage a lock 20, of the key operated type, the lock being fitted to the inner side of the top 11. v
Cut in the front wall 13, at a medium of the curve 21, therein is a transverse slot 22, the edges 23, thereof being outwardly bent so as to guide the folded sheets when being dispensed from the body 10, through the slot 22, therein.
The end walls 12, are provided with gauge openings 24, so that it'can be determined when the cabinet has been emptied of folded sheets of paper, and requires refilling.
The package of folded sheets of paper B, consists of a predetermined number of rcversely disposed interfolded single fold paper sheets 25. and this package B, is introduced into the body 10, of the cabinet A, as shown in Figure i, of the drawings, with the lowermost sheet 25, having its lower fold 26, extended through the slot 22, so that it can be conveniently grasped from without the cabinet, and on the pulling of this sheet therefrom the lower fold of the next sheet is automatically drawn through said slot 22, to be in position for dispensing this next sheet when desired, and this operamedial slot 22, and held down so that the bundle or mass will not jump up when a sheet is dispensed through said slot 22, from the body of the cabinet.
What is claimed is:r
A dispensing cabinet for interfolded sheets, comprising a sheet metal cahinet having spaced parallel ends, top and front Walls, the front Wall being inwardly curved from an intermediate point of the cahinet. the end Walls meeting the curved portion of the front wall being correspondingly curved,
pintle sleeves bent from the extremely lower end of said front wall, a back section separate from the ends, top and front walls, and having pintle sleeves formed. at its lower end, a pintle in said sleeves and swingingly connecting the back section to the front wall, and a finger cut from the front wall above the curvature therein and bent inwardly and upwardly to present an inclined gravity trip at the longitudinal center only of the cabinet for the interfolded sheets, the front wall being further provided "with 'a slit transversely thereof spaced from its lower end, the edges of the slit lacing rerersely curled outwardly to form lips, the lowermost lip being considerably greater in size that the other lip.
in testimony whereof I aflii; my signm ture.
