DISPLAY DEVICE.

This invention relates to display devices, cards or the like and particularly to a device of this class constructed. of printed, lithographed or otherwise characterized cardboard, folded to form frame or background portions, and a part projecting from and setting within the frame and background portions whereby said part will be outstanding with respect to the remainder of the device to produce a neat and attractive display; a further object being to provide a display device of the class specified which may be constructed from a single piece of cardboard, and in connection with which may be mounted, if desired, an easel for support ing a predetermined part or parts of the display when in extended position; a further object being to provide a device of the class specified which may be compactly folded together into a substantially rectangular package, facilitating the packing and shipment of the device or a number of such devices without danger of destruction to any part thereof; and with these and other obthe invention consists in adisplay device of the class and for the purpose specified which is simple in construction, efficient in use, and which is constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which:

are designed to represent the corner portions of boxes for display purposes, as seen in Fig. 1 of the drawing. It will be apparent that any pro ecting arrangement may be pro duced however to display articles of any kind or class as extensions from the parts 18 or extensions on the parts 11.

The general shape of the central part 10 1S rectangular and is provided with an up-' wardly projecting regular portion 1O foldable on the part 10 on the line 15, and which in the construction shown, resembles in outline, the head, neck, shoulder and body structure of a woman, it being understood that the

10 and 10 will be printed and lithographed to produce a very attractive, artistic arrangement for the display of predetermined merchandise, but the printing or lithographing is not indicated in that it forms no part of the invention. The remainder of the body of the girl or woman represented in the display is formed by a cut out portion 10 on the part 10. Inthe representation,*the girl or woman is pictured as sitting upon a fence, bench, stool or'othersupport represented by the portion 10 of the part 10, which extends into the parts 11 or is partially formed by cut outs 11 in said arts. 111 folding the several parts of the dis play together to form the rectangular package seen in Fig. 5 of the drawing, the part 10 is folded inwardly upon the part 10 on the line It is preferred that an easel be employed for supporting the part 10 in up right position so as to reinforce said part. In the construction shown, I have secured to the part 10 a strip of cardboard 20 having a toldable and apertured flap 21 adapted to engage and interlock with projecting tongues 22 on foldable sides 23 of another piece of cardboard secured to the part 10 or the portion 10 of said part. The operative position of the easel is shown in Fig. 3 of the drawing, and is also shownextended in F ig. 4. In the collapsed position of the device, it will be understood that the cut outportions 11" are toldable upon the part 10 in order that all of the parts of the device are contained within the general rectangular contour of the part 10, thus forming a neat and compactpackage for shipment.

In Figs. 6 to S inclusive, I have shown a slight n'iodification wherein the use of the easel is eliminated, and the entire device is constructed from a single piece of cardboard. In this structure, I employ a part 24; similar to the part 10 and

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A display device of the class described comprising a central part, side parts intogral with and toldable itorwai'dly and angic larly with respect to the sides of the central part, the central part having an u invardlr extending part of predctcrmine'd contour, said part being foldable forwardly to ollset the same with respect to the central part and including a portion cut from the central part and ot a contour stui ilementine" the contour of said upper part and otl'set with relation to the central part.

2. A display device of the class described comprising a central part, side parts into gral with and foldable :torwardly and angularly with respect to the sides of the central part, the central part having an upwardly extending part of predetermined contour, said part being toldablc forwardly to offset. the same with respect to the central part and includinga portion cut from the central part and of a contour sulflplcmenting the contour of said upper part. and offset with relation to the central part, and means co operating with the side parts for retaining the upper part in its offset and upright position.

3. A display device of the class described comprising a central part, side parts integral with and foldable forwardly and angularly with respect to the sides of the central part, the central part having an upwardly extending part of predetermined contour,

said part being foldable forwardly to offset contour of said upper part and oflset with relation to the central part, means cooperating with the side parts for retaining the upper part in its offset and upright position, and all of said parts being foldableinto a compact package substantially rectangular in form and having substantially straight, parallel lines.

A display device of the class described comprising a central part constituting the background of the display, side parts fold able forwardly and laterally with respect to the sides of the central partand constitut ing display wings niargining and offsetting the central part or background, a characterized display part fashioned from the upper end of the central part and includ ing a portion cut from said central part, said portion having a contour cooperating with the contour of the display part to produce a predetermined display, said display part being foldalole forwardly with respect to the central part to offsetsaid display part with respect to the central part, and means holding said display part in operative po sition.

5. A display device of the class described comprising a central part constituting the background of the display, side parts foldable forwardly. and laterally with respect to the sides of the central part and constituting display wings margining and ofisetting the central part or background, a characterized display part fashioned from the upper end of the central part and including a portion cut from said central part, said portion having a contour cooperating with the contour of the display partto produce a predetermined display, said display part being foldable forwardly with respect to the central part to ofiset said display part with respect to the central part, means holding said display part in operative position, and cooperating means on said side parts-and said display parts for maintaining the entire device in operative position.

A display device of the class described comprising a central part constituting the background of the display, side parts foldable forwardly and laterally With respect to the sides of the central part and constituting display wings margining and offsetting the central part oinbackground, a characterized display part fashioned from the upper end of the central part and including a portion cut fromsaid central part, said portion having a contour cooperating with the contour of the display part to produce a predetermined display, said display part being foldahle forwardly with respect to the central part to offset said display part with respect to the central part, means holding said dis play part in operative position, cooperating means on sa1d side parts and sa1d display parts for maintaining the entire device in operative position, said display part including a foldable portion, and means for n1a1n taining the foldable portion in upright position.

A display device of the class described comprising a central part constituting the background of the display, side parts foldable forwardly and laterally with respect to the sides of the central part and constituting display wings margining and offsetting the central part or background, a characterized display part fashioned from the upper end of the central part and including a portion cut from said central part, said portion having a contour cooperating with the contour of the display part to produce a predetermined display, said display part being foldahle forwardly with respect to the central part to offset said display part With respect to the central part, meansholding said display part in operative position, cooperating means on said side parts and said display parts for maintaining the entire device in operatlve position, all of sa1d parts being [ffiSlllOIlBtl from a single piece of cardboard,

and said parts being foldable into a compact package substantially rectangularin form. 9
