IMPROVEMENT IN BLIND-STOPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 165,269, dated J u y 6, 1875 application filed May 15,1875. I
OAsE B.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OHARLEs E. STELLER, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and Improved Blind-Stop, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of a plate of metal or other approved substance, arranged between the inner edge of one of the stiles of the blind and the end of one or more of the slats, so as to oscillate a little, and having a cam-button on the stile so combined with it. that by turning the button against the plate the latter will be pressed against the slats, so as to hold them by friction in any position in which they may be set.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a blind with my improved stopper applied to it, and Fig. 2 is a section on line'pc a: of Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the stile of the blind, and B the slats.
G is the plate between the stile and a couple of the slats, and D the cam button on the stile, to press the plate against the ends of the slats and hold all the slats which are connected by rod E in any required position by friction.
The plate has deep notches in the rear edge,-
to allow it to extend'at F considerably beyond the pivots of the slats for using a wide plate, which works better than a narrow one 5 also, to hold the plate in position at the lower end by the slat-pivot inclosed by the aperture on both sides, and also to facilitate the inserting of the plate in any ready-made frames in any manner. Thenotches will bemadelongenough perpendicularly to connect with the pivots of slats of any Width made. At the upper end the plate is fastened by a screw, so as to keep it in position, but at the same time allow it to vibrate sufficiently to press against the slats and release them.
Having thus described my invention, Iclaim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with cam-button D, of the notched plate 0, having arms F extended between slats and beyond the slat-pivot, as and for the purpose specified.
CHARLES E. STELLER. I
