IMPROVEMENT 1N s'rovEs.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 165.208', dated VJ'nly 6, 1875; application filed Merch 20, 1875.
- To all fit-hom it may concern Y description ot' Vthe same, that will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and usethe same., reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters .of reference marked thereon,
forming a part'ot this specification, in Which- Figure l represents a perspective view of a stove, showing my invention, and Fig. 2 is a section of one ot' the plates, showing how my invention is attached.
The object of my invention is to ornament a stove; and it consists in the peculiar man-4 ner ot' fastening the ornamentations, with the peculiar construction of the stove, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth and pointed out by the claim.l
A represents the plates ot' a cast-metal stove, to which my invention is applicable, having cast thereinY openings A', leaving a smooth surface on the outside and anges D on the inside, corresponding in t'orm to the opening A', with the exception of being a little larger, in order to leave a` bearing on the back of the plate inside ot the anges. The plates are also provided with `lugs H cast thereon having perforations I A at the top. These lugs 'are in proper position to allow a lslotted bar, G,'to be placed thereon and secured in place by pins passing through pertorations I, the bar passing over the openings A/ one or more `of them, as may be desired. B represents the tiles used for ornamentation, made of the form ot` the openings,
(which may be ot' any desired form,) but of suftcient size to cover the entire opening, and tits insideof the flanges D. This tile may he of any desired material used for ornamentation and like purposes, and in anyT desired form of ornamentation desired. The tile are placed within the flanges D, and the bar G placed on the lugs H, and pins passed through the perfor-ations I, and the tile are th us pressed rmlvrin place, and held from `sliding or slipping by the flanges D.
By this means the tile are so secured that one or 'more may be rendi-ly removed, and another replaced should the tile become tarnished or broken, or the style of ornamentation be desired to be changed; and all this can be done by any one without the use of skilled labor.
l am aware that various kinds otornamentations have been used in connection withstoves,
some by having the ornamented surface secured rigidly in place, and by screw-ila-nges and I do not claim vany such devices as my invention, but
Having thus fully described my invention, i
what I do claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, .is-
As an improvement in ornamentng stoves, a stove composed of cast platesA, provided with openings A, and having the anges D and lugs H cast thereon, in combination with the ornamentiug tile B and slotted bar G, whereby the tile are removably secured in place, all as and for the purpose herein set forth. i
