My invention relates to iinproven'ients in washing devices, and the seine has for its object more particularly to provide a simple, convenient and efficient device for supplying water, as desired, to. a sponge, cloth or the like. 1

The inlet nozzle 14 is, provided at its outer end with aishoulder 16 upon which is disposed an iiite'riorly threaded coupling-sleevo 1.? adapted to engage with the threaded member 18 secured to the hose, flexible pipe 18 extending from a. source of water supply.

The finger portion 22 is provided-upon its under side adjacent to one end with a depending 13111 24 which extends through asulta-ble opening providedin the wall 11 of the receptacle 'lOin-order to guide said finger portion in its movements.

Theoutl'et-loi is provided with a cover'25 which'is pivotallysecured at itslower end bya screw 26, and is provided at'its upper end with a finger portion 27 whereby the said cover may be moved to one side in order to uncover completely theoutlet 15 and perinit the water to issue in the form of a single column. The cover 25 is provided with a plurality of apertures whereby to break the column of water into a number of small jets which will :eflectually supply water to all parts of the sponge 28 or other article held in place-over the open front of the receptacle. 29-denotes a stop which serves to maintain-the cover 15 duly positioned over the outlet 15, when the water is to be supplied to the sponge or other article in finely dividedjet's. v 1

The operation of the device will belargely obvious. It is only to be noted that the sponge or other article used in the operation of washing is not to be secured to the receptac'le 10, 'but inerely held in position over and againstthe open frontof said recepthe 531119 is secured to a curved finger portion whichconforin's' substantially in outline with'the circular contour ofthereceptacle ill) lacle by the lingers ot the user as illustrated at Fig. 22. When water is to be supplied to the sponge, it merely becomes necessary to depress the linger portion :22, without releasing the hold on the sponge, and thereby unseat the valve 19 whereupon water will be admitted to the receptacle and issue lrom the outlet 15 thereof in many small jets which will immediately be absorbed by or pass through the sponge 26.

It is to be noted that as the valve 19 is maintained normally seated under the pressure of the water to be controlled, the linger portion 2:3 will be maintained normally projected and in position to unseat the valve 1.) by a "light pressure as and when water reqinred. By this arrangement and construelion all undue waste oil water is avoided.

A device of the character specified comprising ashallow inelastic receptacle con structed to lit the hollow of the hand and to engage a sponge or analogous article, separatelinger engaging sup iorting members projecting out *ardlv from the periphery of saiilreceptacle to permit of the same being held in the hand with the fingers available for holding said articlein engagement with the front of said receptacle, and means for supplying fluid to said receptacle, substantially as specified.
