Application filed December 27, 1926. Serial No. 157,304.
This invention relates to stoves of a portable nature adapted to be quickly knocked down and set up as a field kitchen.
Another object of the invention contemplates heating compartments carried by the stove body within which food may be cooked by absorbing heat generated within the stove.
A further object comprehends means adapting the stove for burners and grates.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construe tion to be hereinafter more fully described upon the inner sides of the side members and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective of the invention as set up for use.
Figure 2 is a similar view of a receptacle within which the entire stove may be compactly stored.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view of the invention.
Figure 4 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof illustrated in top plan.
Figure 5 is a longitudinal view.
Figure 6 shows perspectives of side and end walls for the stoves and securing means therefor.
Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts the reference character 10 indicates side members having a back 11 hingedly mounted upon the rearwardly extending ends thereof and detachably connected therewith. Clamping members 12 carried upon the inner sides of the side members 10 and adjacent the upper and lower edges thereof are adapted to receive the offset end portions 13 of brace bars '14 in order that the side members may be retained in parallelism. Angle plates 15 mounted upon the inner sides of the side members 10 are adapted to support thereon a grate 16. Bracket members 17 carried upon theouter sides of either of the side members 10 and upon the outer side of the back 11 are adapted to receive therein and suitable fuel oil.
against the adjacent wall of the particular side or back, the extremities of depending offset plates 18 carried uponthe backs or containers 19. ,Said containers are adapted to absorb heat generated within the stove for heating water and for boiling vegetables, cooking soup and so forth. A top' 20 for the stove is provided with telescopically associated pipe sections 21 to provide a smoke stack therefor. Door members 22 hingedly mounted upon the forwardends of the side members 10 permit access to the interior of the stove, as defined. Elongated plates 23 bent in channel form and carried of the side members 10 is connected at its upper end to a reservoir 26 containing a An elbow fitting 27 incorporated in the length ofthe pipe line 25 is projected through the particular side member and which has connected therewith a pipe 28 supporting an elongated t-rans- 7 versely disposed burner 29 extending axially of the longitudinal center of the stove. An elongated trough 30 also carried by the pipe 28 immediately beneath the burner 29 is adapted to be filled with the fuel and ignited 8 preparatory to starting the burner in so far as devices of the character described will not instantaneously start and it is therefore necessary to apply a certain degree of heat by means of which a vapor fuel is generated. After the burner has been ignited the fuel may gravitate thereto from the reservoir 26.
A compartment or receptacle 31 having a closure 32 is adapted to compactly store the respective sections of the stove. partment may be utilized for many purposes incident to that of cooking.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is 'here- 95 in reserved to make such changes as properly Said coma it 73;-
