Description
Nov. -l5, 1927.
2 sheets-sheet 1 Filed April 10, 1926 units, it is obvious that theend faces 14:, 23 or 19 and 20, which diverge or slant outwardly from the upper tace of the block, constitute a means for facilitating the retention of the mortar or other binding medium M by holding it up thereon While an adjacent block isbeing set, which insures a suipicientnquantity of the binding medium throughout the full Width of the meeting end Walls of the blocks or units to make for a weather-tight joint atthese points. This j eliminates the necessity of pointing, and the time and labor incident thereto, While providing a Wall structure vvhch is permanentlyV weatherproof and oi greater strength.
It is obvious thatthecorner blocks may be inverted so that either of the end faces 19 and 20 is employed as a mortar or binding medium-retaining base when setting the same.
From the foregoing it is thus obvious that an improvement in building blocks has been devised, which facilitates the erection of a strong, durable and weather-proof wall without increasing the cost oi' production ot the units, While eii'ecting a material economy Iin lthe time and labor entailed in the erection of a building.
Vhat is claimed is:
l. A block for wall structure composed of a plurality of superposed courses of block units, each block unit of Which is formed with slanting end faces, which diverge from the upper face, Wherebv to facilitate the retention of mortar on one end face While set ting the next adjacent block.
2. A building block having parallel divergently slanted end faces, the end 'face ot a set block Which declines outwardly from its upper tace constituting a means for retaining the mortar thereon while setting the complementary face of an adjacent block thereagainst. f
3. A building block for wall structures consisting `of a plurality ot superposed courses, each block having inclined parallel end meeting faces for the reception of a binding medium therebetween, whereby the end face of one block when set slopes away from the upper face of the block to constitute means together with the subjacent course for retaining the mortar thereon -While setting thereagainst the complemen`` purpose specified.
