Description

L.-GRUNER HOSE PROTECTOR Filed March 5. 1927 glwtwntoz Snow, 7
Patent Oct, ll, 3.;921.
LENA GEUNER, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
HOSE PROTECTOR.
Application filed March 3, 1927. Serial No. 172,498.
My invention relates to hose protectors and it is an object of the invention to provide a device of this character adapted to be applied on the inside of the top of arctics or galoshes, either high or low to prevent the "hose of the wearer from being soiled by the top of the galosh rubbing against the same.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof and on which 1 similar reference characters indicate similar Figure 1 is a plan view of the pattern 0 blank, 1
Figure 2, shows the manner of applying the same to the ankle or leg,
Figure 3, a view illustrating the same in position with a galoshapplied, and
Figure 4, a similar view illustrating the manner in which the same is adapted to be worn.
In the drawings reference character 10 in-' 'dicates an elongated body or blank preferably of knitted, woven or other desired fabric having a soft finish and which will not be uncomfortable to the wearer.
vice is designed to be used by ladies and is adapted to be wrapped around the ankle or leg in a position so that the top of an arctic, galosh or other overshoe willextend substantially midway of the same and protect silk, chiffon or other hose from being soiled by thorough surface of the galosh.
A fabric of the above description will conform to the tapered surface to which it is applied, however, I preferably cut out the middle portion of both'sides of thematerial, the upper portion being provided with a curved edge 11 and the lower edge being provided with an upper curved edge 12, said curved edges being disposed at the back of the leg so that the article more closely conforms thereto. Each end of the elongated body has its corners cutout and is provided with a'rcuate edges 13 at the upper side and with arcuate edges 14 at the lower The de side, such arcuated edges defining the tongue 15 at each end of the body. I preferably stitch or otherwise form the fabric around its edges to prevent unraveling of the fabric and inorder to cause the same to maintain its shape.
When the article is applied the tongues 15 are disposed at the front of the leg and overlap, as shown in Figure 2 and on account -of their relatively narrow construction they permit the bodyto conform snugly to the ankle or leg without wrinkling and also per mit the upper portion of the body to fold outwardly and downwardly over the top of as indicated in the appended claim.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I' claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A hose protector comprising a body of flexible material adapted to be applied about the le and extend downwardly into the top of a oe and arranged to fold over the top of the shoe and form a cuff, the said body being of length suflicient to extend around the leg and overlap and having also inwardly curved edges at its upper and lower sides adapted to conform to the leg of the wearer,
substantially as set fdrth.
In witness whereoff il 'have hereunto set' my hand at Indianapolisg Indiana, this 28th day of February, A. D. nineteen hundred.
and twenty-seven.
LENA GRUNER.
