nuts. screws or like fastening devices which' are liahle 'to become loose, drop out, and result in damage. Sometimes this damage consists in breaking the casing, and this allows the escape oiu the fumes which are da11- ger-ous to health and life.

The construction involves a one ieee drive shaft A, havingformed integral t erewith an eccentric or .eccentrics B. The straps G of these cccentrics are formed in one piece and roller bearings D are in'- terposed between the eccentrics and their straps. The eccentric has a Flange' E formed integral therewith7 and the eccentric strap has a ange C formed integral therewith. The roller bearings D are inserted between the integral flanges of the eccentric and strap without use of any ports or gateways. For this purpose a 'thin shell or cage is used 'for holding` the rollers, and this is Withdrawn as the parts are placed together.
ln the use oi this shell it is placed within the eccentric strap and is ci? al diameter adapted to he thrust out or withdrawn 'from within the eccentric through the opening' in the flange C. After this shell is placed in position the roller bearings are placed around it and :ire thus properly located within 'the eccentric: strap. The eccentric is then introduced into the eccentric strap and the shell is thrust out or withdrawn so that the eccentric taires its place during the with- X. and thus it is held against lateral thrust.
rlhis is true also of the eccentric strap which bears against the frame at if; There are two ot these eccentrics with their straps, and the second pair bear against the Yframe at X. X, so that these parts are sustained against lateral thrust and aid in keeping the parts in proper alignment for Work. The shaft A Works in end thrust bearings.

It will be noticed "that one of the lianges is on the eccentric and the other is on the strap. This simplifies the manufacture of these parts. The eccentric is made to come out flush with the side face of the eccentric strap so as to bear on the frame of the apparatus and sustain iateral thrust'. The eccentric may be shouldered at X3 for this purpose.

The Wrist pin is held in place b screws a which are inserted in a three. ed socket formed partly inthe wrist pinand'partly in the piston. There is one of these screws at each end of 4the wrist pin and they are held in place against turning by keys b, consist` ing ol flat metal pieces of `T-shape seated in the central opening of the wrist pin and with their heads or cross arm ortions seated in grooves or slots in the en s of the Wrist pin and in. kei-*fs in the screws. These locking keys are held in place by bearin on the wall of the cylinder. They are provided with notchesl c to form continuations of oil .grooves in the cylinder.
The two cylinders are formed en bloc. The base of the cylinder casting is circular at d and a single gasket e surrounds the two cylinders, the seat for said gasket being circular. This construction is the same at the top or' the structure, the cap and circular cap seatfbeing` common to both cylinders, and this' construction aids manufacture and enables expeditious machine work to be done. i. e., machine. l
