BEFRIGERATOR BASKET.
l Application ld'December 3, 1923, Serial No. 678,262. Renewed August 13, 1926. n
The invention has relation to refrigerator baskets, having for an object the provision` of an improved basket of this description.
The invention consists in the novel construction and combination vof parts, as set forth in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention, ythe numeral l designates the body of the basket, woven from slab rattan 1c Vand provided with a. metal lining 2, a suitable insulation 3 being used between the basket body andsaid lining. A
The top 4 of thevbasket is provided with a central portion 5 which is thicker than its marginal portion 6, the latter having a lower packing strip 8 adaptedV to rest upon the peripheral top edge ofthe basket, the metal lining being formed vwith a peripheral flange l5 resting upon land formingthe peripheral f topedge of the basket, said flange having an upwardly projecting bead 9 engaging said packing'strip to form an air tight joint.
It is found in practice that the ice chamberv 10 whichremovably fits in one end of the basket, is not readily removable as is requ1red for certain purposes, owing to the downwardly tapering form of the said receptacle, and the similarly tapering lining of the basket causing a wedging fit, and in order that the removal of said receptacle may be facilitated, the metal lining is provided with inwardly projecting horizontal spring strips 1l, opposite each other and which engage the inner lends ofthe ice receptacle to hold it in its proper position at Y the end of the basket through frictional pressure, admitting of the ice receptacle being tilted upon its lower inner corner, as shown in'dotted lines in the ligure, against i said tension of the spring strips preliminary 40 to being lifted out of the basket, said receptacle being readily grasped for removal after the tilting is effected.
' In replacing the ice receptacle in position, it may be shoved endwise of thev basket tok engage the ,spring strips, ll, without necessity for vertical lowering into position,as in ythe case of my Patent No. 712,921, dated November 4th, 1902, upon the device of which this invention is designed as an im- 5o provement.
In a refrigerator basket of horizontally elongated form, a metal lining having downwardly tapering side walls, and an ice receptacle having downwardly tapering side walls fitting closely in the end of said lining, and opposite horizontal spring strips at their outer ends attached to the lining and projecting inwardly and 'engaging the innerV 60 ends of said ice receptacle to hold it in position, the latter being tiltable at its lowerY inner corner against the tension of said spring strips whereby it may be readily removed from the basket.
In testimony whereof I alhX my signature.
