An object of the invention is to provide means for safely holding such match-packets upon a smokers utensil, so that thentensil and packet can be served together .to a guest or other user, and to ettectthis result in a simple and inexpensive'manner, and produce an attractive device. i

The short pedestal 13 is preferably depressed from the bottom of the bowl by pressing down the central portion thereof, and this pedestal may be soldered or riveted or otherwise secured directly upon the floor of the ash-tray, preferably centrally thereof, thettray and bowl being preferably circular. The height of the pedestal maybe substantially equal to or a little less than the thickness of the thin end'of the packet, say about one-eighth of an inch, so that the packet when thrust into this annular clip may be pinched and held thereby. Having thus described my invention, I claim: I

1. A clip for a flexible packet of the described matches, comprising an ash-receiving bowl having a broad bottonn'an ash tray, and a pedestal connecting said tray to said bowl, with the tray in close proximity to the bottherewith to clip firmly the thin end of the described flexible packet thrust betweenthe bowlv and the-ashtray. v r a i 2. A clip for a flexible packet-of the described matches, comprising an ash-receiving bowl havinga broad bottom, an ash tray, and a pedestal connecting said tray to said bowl, with the :tray inclose proximity-to the bottom of the ash-receiving bowl and coacting therewith to clip firmly the thin end of the described flexible packet thrust between the bowl and the ash-tray, said pedestal in the form of a depression in the bottom of the bowl and firmly secured to the ash-tray.
